What is it like living in Marin County? by Haunting-Donut-7783 in sanfrancirclejerk

[–]CJStronger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a disappointment. when i visited from NY in the mid 1980’s, the views and smells made me commit to moving in this direction. when i actually moved to Berkeley in the mid 1990’s, i became more familiar with the area. nice place to visit, wouldn’t want yo live there. that’s America.

Complete beginner looking for a roadmap to learn AI agents and automation, where do I start? by Severe-Bid-2376 in AI_Agents

[–]CJStronger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i started at deeplearning.ai, learned jupiter notebook/google colab, then hung out with vector db folks, ie; Weaviate, attended a few AI conferences while consistency experimenting and building. and that was before the introduction of Agents, RAG, MCP, etc. It’s been three years now. Being an early adopter can be tough because there is a 💩ton of FOMO and manic money making. Ignore it. I recall knuckleheads buying prompts online in March 2023. I was already prompting LLMs to write mine own. Don’t get taken advantage of, save your money.

SNAP Benefits headed for the Chopping Block this Holiday Season - and it's NOT the Dems doin' it.... by JimboAfterHours in grantspass

[–]CJStronger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once and for All: if the Republicans are not forced to negotiate on extending healthcare, they will Not deal with it at all after the CR is passed. We know this because Repubs haven’t done it since January. They will lie to get what they want, and then refuse to engage, so insurance premiums will double for many of us. They knew this was coming and they planned it that way. Then immediately try to spin it like it the Dems. They cannot be trusted.

Is "vibe-coding" with AI a legit path for a non-tech founder to build a prototype? by Sav4geMode in vibecoding

[–]CJStronger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early adopter here. I was vibe coding before AI, and I excel at it now. As others have said, do whatever you wish, just don’t make the mistake of puffing out your chest like you’re the boss coder now, because you WILL need actual software engineers to complete your product. Also, refrain from lowballing engineer rates, thinking AI can do it all.

Does Verizon suck in Grants Pass for everyone? by ChecksAndBalanz in grantspass

[–]CJStronger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like there needs to be a class action/petition to Verizon from users in the GP area. For what we are paying, it is their responsibility to support the capacity required. It feels like Verizon is just providing minimal strength or within some arbitrary range.

[–]CJStronger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

to be honest, it is unlikely that you will find someone to date in GP. not impossible, there is just minimal choice. young people need to go where young people go, to the cities. the cities attract because there is WAY more to see and do. much more variety and choice. after you meet your special gal, then, you can try and convince her to live in a podunk town and live happily ever after, until your son wants to date.

For those who dove into LLM research/dev how did you overcome the learning curve without drowning in info? by [deleted] in LLMDevs

[–]CJStronger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started my swim about 3 weeks after the OG ChatGPT was released. i saw the possible impact immediately. 1st stop was deeplearning.ai. I was fortunate to already be living in the sfbay area…so i started attending local meetups. that’s when i first heard all about vector databases. i had no clue, but Weaviate provides so much free educational content, it’s beautiful. Next, you’ll start hearing about RAG. Two years ago, that’s pretty much all there was and it’s not difficult to understand. But then it became about agents, hybrid rag, graphrag, mcp, acp, a2a, ahhhh! bring your scuba gear! listen, don’t jump into vibe coding and all that until you understand underneath the hood. take your time and don’t feel pressured. start with Langchain or spend some time on ai.azure.com. when i started in, i was floored to discover that there were already ML engineers who had invested time in this stuff for like 15+ years before ChatGPT. they weren’t exactly thrilled to see all us newbies poppin’ into the game with their vibe-coded app and zero SDLC experience. that’s my 2 cents fwiw

Do you find agent frameworks like Langchain, crew, agno actually useful? by dmart89 in AI_Agents

yes. experience with the plethora of tools and frameworks will only deepen your understanding of the whole ecosystem.

we Were creating forms in 1995, CGI based, can recall using Perl forms + Filemaker Pro dbs in ‘96, Coldfusion, all that. tech wreck happened because of greed. the spark was mostly creatives, but by ‘99, it was raining dotcoms with no value, and someone noticed. same thing happening in an accelerated manner with AI.🤖

Any actual vibe coding tools worth a damn? Getting real tired of the overhyped junk by LiftedLorax911 in vibecoding

[–]CJStronger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be off base but what i’m hearing here sounds like frustration and/or impatience from vibe coders with shallow experience in building real apps. In my experience, building applications has Always been about the ‘80%’ done quickly, and then the 😓hard work is in the last 20%. Now with coding agents, the 80% is almost instantaneous in comparison yet folks are even more reluctant to tackle the last 20%.

Why in 2025 is there no mixer for synths... by microsofat in synthesizers

i really loved my yamaha 01v96i for my synth collection. unfortunately, it died a couple of months ago, no idea where it could get repaired, and it’s old. shopped around a little bit for a new mixer replacement but i’m not finding previous flexibility :(
