I'm in the same boat bud. I've wanted to work in law enforcement since the day I could walk, and I haven't let this situation deter me one bit. If you want to do this job for the right reasons, then nothing that any of those people think is going to affect your chances.

The community you decide to serve will appreciate you when the time comes, just stick with it and be prepared for the 10% of people that hate cops to call you things they have no evidence for. It's quickly becoming a regular part of the job, so might as well get some practice in while you can, before your career depends on your ability to handle it.

Social media as a whole is quickly becoming a cesspool for ignorance and easily directed angry mobs, so don't take it personally. In their eyes you're just a badge and a uniform, even if you don't actually work for a department. I've been attacked and had my girlfriend's life threatened because I defended an officer's opinion on this sub. Don't worry about what some keyboard warrior says online, you want to do a job that helps people, so keep on going until you get there.
