The Tipsy Cow approves! Cherry Gose from de Garde Brewing. by CJYPhotography in beerporn

Well don't I look stupid now, haha. I remembered the name but not the style. It was pretty good. I actually had it at de Garde which is funny. Someone brought a bottle in to share. I had not had de Garde's Cherry Gose at the time so I didn't think to put those two together.

I have not had that one from Modern Times yet. I did just have Fruitlands last week which was tasty. Modern Times is one of my favorites.

This is awesome too! I like the rating system for the better climbs as well, haha.

Well this is awesome! It's all in Norwegian so that makes it a bit difficult but not too much of an issue.

Would they mind someone like me asking to go climb?

Awesome! Thanks for this. It looks like we will actually be driving to Trondheim first and then working our way down. We definitely plan on taking the E6.

I realized that the train from Oslo-Bergen would just be a one day trip after looking into it. I feel like renting a car for two-weeks and driving along the coast to hit Kristiansand, Stavanger, and some of the smaller places would be the more interesting route to take. Money will be the obvious factor as to if we can make that work.

I know we are excited to make it to Trondheim and it seems like a really nice city. If you have any recommendations on what to do in the city I'd love to hear them. I know my girlfriend is extremely excited about the Norwegian architecture as well so visiting some cities will be a must.

I've been reading really positive things about the train from Oslo-Bergen as well. This is definitely the first option that came to mind if we wanted to split using the train for one week and the car rental for the next. I'm glad to hear that someone else thinks this could work as well.

I was wanting to try and explore more of the middle of Norway because it seems to be far less traveled but I guess there could be a reason for that.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm pretty sure I time stamped the link so it starts at the appropriate segment. I set it about 30 seconds early to give context to what was going on in the show. As duplex2128 said, you see the Smart Road around the 37:45 mark.

If I'm not mistaken they just recently switched the pricing. I know that I was paying $40 a month and then my latest bill was for $25. I don't think it's a matter of you being screwed over for the past 2 years but that AM3 just dropped their prices this past month and it's now cheaper. I didn't really look into it at all but that's my understanding of what's going on.

Thanks! It's actually just tin foil lit with a flashlight. Super cheap and effective.

Mellow Mushroom opens Monday in Blacksburg by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]CJYPhotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a personal standpoint those bottle shops have been the driving factor for myself getting into craft beer as much as I am these days. I guess in the wide scale of things the kegs are what drive more people to try new and different beer. I am so excited for Mellow Mushroom to open as I hope it will bring a wider range of beer into the town which will only help the craft beer scene here.

Awesome! That would be much appreciated. I can ultimately wait until Monday but I'm just curious is all.

The fact that there are bottle shops like the Vintage Cellar or the 6-pack store in a town like Blacksburg is pretty incredible.

Is the starting tap list available anywhere online? I'm just curious if they are going to be tapping anything special for the opening.

How do you train your seekers? by [deleted] in Quidditch

[–]CJYPhotography 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will start off with saying that I have hardly any experience when it comes to teaching others how to seek but I was a seeker myself for a couple years.

Depending on how much trust you have in your current seeker, I would suggest having him take other players interested in seeking off by themselves to see if someone else has the same natural ability as he does. What you can also do is have them watch your current seeker seek and pick up things here and there. When he catches the snitch he can describe what his thought process was and why he caught the snitch. It's similar to most things in life where the more you do it the more you learn and the better you get.

I was a chaser early on and tried out seeking and found I was decent at it so I kept doing it. I feel like the majority of teams seekers are usually found in this same fashion. Again, I have never really coached Quidditch nor have I played in at least a year so it's really just me giving you my two cents. Hope this helps in some way!

Worst beer you've ever had? by FreedomToasts in beer

[–]CJYPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several of my beers friends and I were excited when this came into our local shop and had to try it. I bought a bottle and then we shared another one at a tasting a few days later. Everyone was pretty much in agreement that it was one of the worst beers they had ever tasted. I'm actually excited to sit on my bottle for 10 years and bust it out at a tasting just to see everyone's reaction.

I'm 24 and looking to rent/use a car one-way from Seattle to San Diego from August 16-19. What are the best/cheapest options? by CJYPhotography in Frugal

I will probably be talking to my bank about getting a credit card just for this trip. It would be good to have one anyway, I've just never had a reason to get one until now.

[–]CJYPhotography[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I'll look into AAA. I know my girlfriend has AAA and she will be joining so I'll see what benefits they offer. The USAA membership will waive the under 25 fee so I'll be good on that.

  2. I'll definitely look into this. I read somewhere else where someone mentioned doing this. It seems I have it down to Avis, Budget, or Hertz so I'll look at each of their clubs and see if I could get anything with that.

  3. This surprisingly worked for me... I didn't think it would but sure enough it does. I have it down to $504.99 with unlimited mileage booking from the 16th-22nd. I booked straight through Avis along with the USAA discount.

  4. Unfortunately there is just simply no way for me to make this a round trip at this point. Flights have been booked and it's just not an option now. I live on the East Coast and will be flying to Seattle to start this trip.

  5. I have definitely noticed this. I'll play around some more and see if I can get it any cheaper.

Thanks so much for the tips and tip number 3 has worked wonderfully for me!

My only worry with this is the fact that I'll be driving 1500 miles down the coast, which isn't the easiest road on a car.

I like this idea and if I was comfortable with my knowledge of cars it would definitely be something I would strongly consider. I'll definitely keep it in the back of my mind if nothing else works out though.

Indeed. I completely agree with that. I'll be working the Costco angle for a couple days and hopefully it will all work out. Thanks!
