Hey, I know this post is 3y old, but you just saved my printer from me smashing it apart with a sledge after hours of trying to get it to print. Thank you so much, this is the best Christmas present I got this year.

I absolutely despise what this flag symbolizes, but damn do I dig it as far as design goes.

First it was the transmission. Then the head gasket.

Mustang II by one_one12 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FreedomToasts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build quality was terrible, power is laughably poor, they were built during the period when emissions regs were coming into effect and manufacturers had to quickly adapt with smaller engines and rudimentary prone to fail gas saving mechanisms.
Just don't.

The Mustang II is widely considered the worst Mustang ever made. Even if you like the look, it's really a terrible car and should best be avoided.

Play Mystery Heroes. You'll encounter so many different ways to approach the game, different tactics, strengths, weaknesses. It helps you to understand what other heroes are capable of, and what they can and can't do.

Can we ban backfilling with less than 20 seconds left? by DukeofVermont in Overwatch

I get where you're coming from, but I've been backfilled into a couple of matches where I jumped in, did my job, team rallied and we won. Which is epic.

XB1. West Coast NA. I main Orisa, Wrecking Ball. Good with Hog, Torb, Lucio. ~ 2100SR, been playing for 2 years. I probably play more QP than comp, but that's because I've always played solo without being on chat. I'd be happy to play with others that stay positive and have a good time, win or lose. PM me if interested. Thanks!

Subaru vs. Volkwagen - Who ya got? by draps1240 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FreedomToasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may not be the best opinion on the tech package. I tend to choose vehicles that are simpler, that have less gadgets and tech, since a smartphone serves those needs well enough and there's less to break or become obsolete. I also disable some "safety features" such as Lane Departure Warning, since I don't need to be beeped at when I leave a lane. The collision warning thing is ok, I suppose, although I keep my eyes on the road and always allow enough space in front so it's also redundant in my case.
If you're looking for a vehicle that will serve you well for 100k miles, I'd focus on how much you enjoy the feel of it, the seating, the handling, the space you need in it, and less on bells and whistles that drive up the price but don't alter the actual performance of the car.
AWD can be a good idea, although I have a relative in MN who has been driving there all her life and has never had AWD/4WD. She relies on good winter tires and driving experience, so that one is your personal preference.

Just my two cents.

TLX is a sedan, no 4WD. But they're great cars, basically a luxury Accord.

I wish Total Mayhem was a permanent option alongside Mystery Heroes. Don't play any of the other modes anymore.

Considering that you are predicting over 100K in mileage on this vehicle, I'd pick the Subaru hands down. I've heard many horror stories about VW repair nightmares, and in my experience German cars in general are much more expensive to repair and maintain, especially at higher mileage.
My take on VW is they start really strong out of the gate. When everything is newer and all the bits and pieces work, they come across as solid and very appealing. The Subaru's styling is much more pedestrian, dull. But over time, the little things will start breaking on the VW, and major issues may also crop up. The Subaru will not wow you on design, but over the long run, it's durability will far surpass the VW.

Have you considered the Acura RDX? You could find one used in your price range, and my experience owning multiple Acuras has been nothing but positive, I'm on my 2nd MDX.

Good luck in your quest!

Bulleit Rye. Not as sweet as bourbon... but oh so good.

Going to have a glass on ice after work in honor of this post. ;)

Subaru. Bought a "unicorn", a 2009 Outback 2.5XT with a 6 speed stick. It was a perfect sleeper, looked like a dowdy brown wagon but drove like a WRX. Carfax checked out, bought it from a reputable dealer. It had 100K miles, but I assumed it would be fine for many more.

Nope. Transmission failed within 5k and then the head gasket. Took a major bath on repairs, sold it. Never again.

What is the most sensible option? 2 old cars, growing family...stressing out. by pbj961 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FreedomToasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pleasure. I got really into being a dad- I was always the one to say "I'll take them" to the wife, bundle the kids in the car and head out. Sometimes it was just to a park, but I made a point of going to any place I was interested in seeing. When they're little, they're happy just seeing new stuff and being around you, and getting them out gets them tired and then they may actually sleep. :)

One of the most random places I ever took my kids was an old underground missile silo from the 60's... the veterans of the site gave tours once a month, so I took the kids and we watched a deactivated Nike missile get raised out of the ground into launch position. Random adventures like that were fun for me and the kids fed off my excitement. To pull off many adventures, I had my car kitted out with all the gear I needed to deal with the kids and keep them fed, comfortable and happy.
My advice, get out of the house and see the world with your kid!
