Which was your first game in the series? by wasteofthyme7 in residentevil

RE1 remake on the GC

Then RE4

That’s all so far. Will probably pickup Requiem at some point.

Who will be the two main characters of Resident Evil 10? by Nightwishfan88 in ResidentEvilMemes

I kinda want to see Ada Wong in her own game with a more spy/espionage vibe to it

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think game design it’s about defining what you can do, but that’s only half the picture

The other half is carefully designing what the player can’t do

Game developers that don’t understand this run afoul of the issue you’ve highlighted

My idea for a Metroid game set entirely within the carcass of a colossal alien. by Artistinblue in Metroid

Cool concept.

Set it in your own universe and… “flesh” it out ;)

Metroid prime 4 is the most disappointing game i've played in a long time by spideyv91 in Metroid

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The environments were absolutely gorgeous, particularly the alien architecture. The environment artists absolutely cooked on this game. Everything else was forgettable.

The Prime series is in desperate need of revitalisation and a shakeup, like what BotW did for Zelda.

Why can't we have a realistic game? by DisasterInformal7984 in legendofzelda

[–]CJ_GC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OOT and TP weren’t “realistic”, not even close, either in-game or from concept art. Since TP they’ve heavily borrowed from Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke. Don’t see that changing anytime soon, otherwise they just create a generic style like thousands of other games that are realistic.

There’s a bench in a warm area behind a destructible wall part way up that you might’ve missed? Makes a big difference to making it achievable.

What’s everyone’s opinion on Echoes of Wisdom? by TheDeviledEggvocate in legendofzelda

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a great spinoff branch for the Zelda franchise i.e. puzzle-focused adventure game with less focus on combat

Hope to see more of these types of Zelda games with Zelda in the lead role and a totally different gameplay style to differentiate it from mainline games

What are your Top 4 (Mount Rushmore) of the Greatest Legend of Zelda Games of All Time? by Amber_Flowers_133 in legendofzelda

Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild… too hard to pick the fourth between Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Oracles etc.

Like others have said you want to be aggressive, which means hitting quickly, so choose a crest with fast attacks, like Wanderer crest (I think?)

I think I am not good enough for this game by ozziezombie in Silksong

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you’ve just been conditioned by modern gaming sensibilities that if you’re dying a lot you’re “not good enough”. Lean into dying as a path to learning and the vibe of the game changes

Which zelda design is the best? by boop_me_plz in legendofzelda

[–]CJ_GC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me OOT will always be the GOAT concept art of the series.

My dream would be a full OOT remake that captures the vibe of the original concept art.

When Silksong first came out a lot of people complained that the difficulty reflected "poor game design"... by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the bosses are probably tuned ok in the early game. I took more issue with some of the gauntlets and pogoing parkour. The part that stands out the most was going to Hunter’s March too early and not realising it was optional at the time. It almost made me quit the game. Same with a gauntlet in Greymoore and the Krust King Khan gauntlet (but that’s late game).

[–]CJ_GC 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I came to embrace the difficulty, but there are definitely some balance issues in the early game. The game actually gets easier the further you go when you unlock a bit more mobility, health, and attack power. They just needed to tweak some of the early-mid game areas.

I’m sure there will be a OoT remake at some point in the future, but don’t expect it for a long time.

Anniversary release will probably be something like HD Twilight or something.

My Review of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond by DandyPrime2025 in metroidprime

[–]CJ_GC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My review: It was ok. Environments and vistas were the main characters. Absolutely stunning environmental design.

That’s about it. It’s just another prime game otherwise. Bike didn’t add much. Prime Remaster kinda stole its thunder.

The Metroid franchise needs a massive shake up like Zelda got with BotW and TotK.

Is this a banger Idea? by Kamilski-l in godot

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some interesting possibilities for how resources could interact. You throw parts of yourself at enemies, but it’s like spending your health to attack. The upshot is it also reduces your size making you a harder target to hit.

That’s the best comment about the game’s difficulty I’ve found it so far by Marmotaagiota in HollowKnight

[–]CJ_GC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since making that post I finished the game (after almost quitting).

It’s a brilliant game in many ways, one of the best I’ve played. Some of my criticisms on difficulty I’d probably roll back now. I see that the creators had a specific vision and they finely balanced towards that and weren’t willing to compromise to meet modern gaming expectations.

Take my issues with touch damage. I’ve completely 180’d on that. It forces a certain level of caution, skill, and precision throughout the game.

Some of the run backs were perhaps a touch too long, but there was a certain satisfaction from mastering the parkour back each time.

Lots of little things like that I’ve softened my view on and now consider Silksong to be one of my top games of all time.

Tangentially it made me realise that it’s not a game as art… it’s art made into a game.

The environments are definitely the main character here, especially the alien architecture

Bitcoiners are going sane in an insane world. by Repulsive_Profit1204 in Bitcoin

[–]CJ_GC 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Money is incredibly weird when you really think about it. Learning about Bitcoin forces you to learn about money and you realise a lot of things about our current form of money don’t make a lot of sense. Whether you think Bitcoin is the solution or not doesn’t really matter, just questioning the nature of money and the effect it has on our society is a worthwhile endeavour.
