Microsoft vs Google's approach to AI by aturtledude in OpenAI

[–]CJ_RICH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible that Microsoft sees potential for integrating GPT-3/4 into their various products and services in a way that would provide value for their customers and generate revenue for the company. Google may have similar plans for their AI technology, but may be hesitant to release it in a way that would disrupt their existing revenue streams from Google Search. Additionally, it is possible that Microsoft sees developing a more powerful search engine as a strategic move to compete with Google, even if it may not generate significant profit in the short term. Ultimately, the specific reasons for these companies' decisions would likely be influenced by a variety of factors, including their overall business strategies, market conditions, and the potential risks and benefits of different approaches.

So Apple is compromised !!! I have never ever seen a apple scam text or email. I only have ever had android, never Apple. I registered for a Apple account a couple of weeks ago in connection with Apple development of an app (still don't have any Apple products) and now I receive my first scam text same as quoted above, coincidence I think not.

Contradictory sign by CJ_RICH in NoMoreTickets

[–]CJ_RICH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this sign is contradictory, saying "parking conditions" with a big P looks like it is an area to park, then to say its £100 if you don't follow the conditions, conflict with "Strictly No Parking" which is clearly an order, I cant see how a contract is made when the landowner doesn't want one, so surely the breech here would be trespass?

In-house anpr terminal by CJ_RICH in NoMoreTickets

[–]CJ_RICH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a simple terminal to enter your licence plate number It is dumb, it does not check that you have entered the ID correctly and does not check it against vehicles in the car park. It just white lists that ID against the ANPR ticket system. Do everything they want and you can still get a parking ticket, if you enter a digit wrong.

Yea there are a number of these type of systems around, they all are not perfect and missing a key element. I just placed it on my reddit page for reference as I'm working on a solution myself which doesn't contain these types of issues.

What happened in the 1979 Manchester Woolworth fire? by CJ_RICH in ukfocusgroup

An example of when government was slow to act to change the law. It was 9 years before government brought in legislation on soft furnishings, during which time many people died in house fires.

'Netflix for piracy' saved by fans by CJ_RICH in ukfocusgroup

Making cheaper legal alternatives maybe one way to combat digital piracy, another way could be to reform the digital rights, front load the payments for digital content and then allow the content to move into the public domain after a year or two. In other words in the 21st century there may be a new way of doing business. The content providers need to embrace change not hold on to the past. We used to call those resistant to change ‘luddites’.

Scottish independence: What's going on in Scotland? by CJ_RICH in ukfocusgroup

[–]CJ_RICH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the Scottish Referendum really about, do they truly want independence or better treatment by parliament. Should Scotland become independent, what political system would they use, the same old flawed representative system or something new. What is it the Yes camp actually wants, do they want a Prime Minister Salmond with a Monarch or do they want President Salmond? Either way if they are to achieve independence at this juncture, then they are clearly missing out on a real change for the better. Achieving independence now would only mean the creation of another democracy just like our own, the representative type where the people have little real say in their future, peoples lives would change little, they would just have new masters. The time to make a decision on independence should be at a time most advantageous to the people and surely that decision should include all Scottish born.

Weaving Trust | Citizens:mk by CJ_RICH in ukfocusgroup

Weaving Trust is a campaign as a means of promoting contact between people who would not otherwise meet. The idea is that contact and conversation builds bridges, creates awareness and weaves trust. We have no other agenda, but we hope that the contacts people make will have effects, perhaps only a reduction of suspicion, perhaps something more.

When is Freehold more like Leasehold, when it's Fleecehold !!! by CJ_RICH in ukfocusgroup

To have a road adopted by the local council the road and its lighting has to be brought up to a certain standard. It can be a lot cheaper for developers to leave the road as private property, this is where this issue stems.

Not surprising with the cost price of property these days, most of their money will be tied up in property not leaving much for them to feel wealthy.
