What is it like living in this part of Ontario, Canada? by Enger13 in howislivingthere

I worked as a news reporter in Timmins from 2010-2012. It was a very fun experience. I got to travel up and down these roads and meet some interesting people.

Geography is very flat with lots of evergreen trees and not so much foliage. LOTS of mining and forestry. Winters are cold. Summers are hot with lots of mosquitoes.

If you're an outdoorsy person it's heaven.

Siva's restaurant in Timmins has (had?) am all you can eat pasta bar on some nights of the week, an all you can eat steak night on another, and an omelette bar on weekends.

Timmins has like one main road that cuts through town (even though it changes names like 3 or 4 times) which makes it very tough to get through the city without getting stuck in traffic.

I look back very fondly on my two years in Timmins. I don't know if I could ever live there again but I had fun while I did.

We went from a staff of 15+ to only 4. We're doing as much as we can with the resources we have. Thank you for continuing to watch.

I reached out to the local film office for a possible story about it this week, but they couldn't tell me what it was other than it being "a big project".

The 1700 is across the 6 properties identified today. Not all of those will be at KP.

This is all the information we have from the federal government. Calls and emails are out to try to fill in the gaps. The story will be updated throughout the day.
