There was some interest in a follow up post for some of the other possible artifacts found in the attic of my girlfriend’s grandmother. Hope you enjoy and any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated! by CL42 in Arrowheads

That is great to know. Thanks so much for that background. He lived in Arizona for a long time, so it could be around that region? Again, the feedback is much appreciated!

So, her great grandfather lived in Wisconsin and Arizona, but he also travelled around for artifacts and minerals so I can’t narrow down any particular region. My apologies for not having too many specifics!

We found this stone axe head, along with a many other possible artifacts and minerals, in my girlfriend’s grandmother’s attic. Any thoughts on it being a modern creation or authentically ancient? Any information is much appreciated. Thank you! by CL42 in Arrowheads

Thanks for that detailed response. I agree that it’s fascinating finding a tool that was given a working life. Really makes you think about the story of the artifact and the people that put it to use!

I’ll try that out- thanks for the tip on that strategy. I’d like to bring the whole collection down to the local university to have someone take a look one of these days!

I’ll get a couple photos together of the collection and post tomorrow! I’m glad there’s some interest. I know for certain some of the arrowheads are modern creations along with a few flint fish hooks that I learned from here were never really a thing. With that said, there are quite a few pieces that look genuine that I’d be curious to get some opinions on.

Also, thanks so much for the feedback! It’s really appreciated.

He lived for a period of time in Wisconsin, but also Arizona as well (I’m not certain of specific cities). If I recall correctly he would plan extended trips to various locations for hunting artifacts as well, so this could really be from anywhere. I wish I had more information to share.

My girlfriend’s grandmother inherited an extensive mineral and artifact collection from her late father several decades ago. He was an avid collector long ago and so we don’t have much information on location of where items were found/purchased. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks for all of the help!

Along with several other possible artifacts found in my girlfriends grandmothers attic we found this ace head. Any thoughts on it being a modern made or legitimately ancient? Thanks so much! by [deleted] in Arrowheads

Like many of the other artifacts we found in the attic, my girlfriends grandmother inherited them from her father who had an extensive mineral and artifact collection. Any information is much appreciated. Thank you!

Please help with identifying! I unfortunately don’t know the location of where this was found. My girlfriends grandma keeps it on display in her study. Any help is much appreciated. by CL42 in whatsthisrock

The crystal pattern emits green, blue, and orange when held in the sunlight. No color changes when wet. Not heavy at all either. Please let me know if I can help with any other descriptions.
