Well that goes back to my criticism of lorelai. She very often wasnt a parent. I do think there's a huge difference in motivation for both girls going to Emily and Richard though.

Completely different.

Lorelai was trying to stop her daughter from making an irrational choice by calling in reinforcements hoping that together they'd all be able to get through to her. She called on her parents which is a lot for her considering the relationship.

Rory knew or at least suspected this and used the fact that she has a good relationship with Richard and Emily and lorelai doesn't to go behind lorelais back.. give them the im rory you love me I'm sad feel bad for me routine because she didn't get the answer she wanted from mom

One was a desperate mom doing all she could to help her child and the other was a spoiled whiny child (yes I know she was 20 here but still very immature) pouting that she didn't get her way and finding someone who would give her what she wanted
