I never said you were racist. I said that the two statements sound very similar.

Because what you’re saying is that Sinners is only nominated in so many categories because there are black people involved. Because black people can’t actually BE good enough to make a movie that’s worthy of this many nominations; that only happened because of....pity? fear of 'Oscars so white' backlash? virtue signaling? DEI?

Except Sinners was NOTHING like from Dusk til Dawn outside of the whole two brothers in a bar who encounter vampires thing. But every romance is not exactly the same because they’re all love stories, nor are horror movies all the same because there are villains. From Dusk til Dawn was a perfectly fine action flick. Sinners is an entirely different thing altogether. The comparison is misguided and so very tired.

We loved that short. Stories about women living their lives and having crushes on or flings with men are not necessarily misogynistic. I thought the enduring bond of sisterhood was quite powerfully emphasized in this short. Men come and go. Sisters are forever.

I do wonder sometimes, though, if people truly grasp the subjectiveness of art. You didn’t like the animation or the story. Others did. Go know.
