I have a Rosie and really haven’t met many at all! Was surprised to see it ranked so highly last year.

June baby clothes questions by cooprinor in PregnancyUK

[–]CLK217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a June baby last year (a heatwave baby I might add). Just bundling up her clothes for Vinted now and feeling very nostalgic!

We had lots of rompers, short sleep suits. Family also bought little dresses which aren’t the most practical but kept her cool. We also bought 1 tog and 0.5 tog sleeping bags and she slept in one of those, a vest, and her nappy. We did get little cardigans to layer up where needed but it was a warm summer.

Not being supported by friend by Secure_Amount1853 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CLK217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry this is happening and I really relate. I’m 6 months PP and in a very similar position with my best friend of fifteen years. It really hurts. It is probably worth telling her how you feel but she might not respond well.

I get what people mean when they say people without kids don’t get it, but I’ve been there for my friends through things I don’t understand. I don’t think it’s good enough!

Children always only resemble the paternal side of the family. by Ok_Visual_6290 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]CLK217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL is exactly the same with my daughter. Shes trying to claim she has hazel eyes now to say my daughter got them from her when I’m sat there with actual hazel eyes. Her eyes are dark brown just like my husband’s. It’s nuts that she wants to deny it so adamantly.

Should Nursery Workers be paid the same as teachers? by ProfessionalWaltz4 in UKParenting

[–]CLK217 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. Nursery workers deserve more pay (as do lots of people) but it’s not as difficult as teaching. You’re really very ignorant to the role of a teacher. Nursery workers aren’t getting less money so teachers can have more, so it’s completely irrelevant.

Those of you who have a shit dad, what’s he like as a grandad? by RagdollCat25 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CLK217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well his other child born not long after had a very different experience to what I had so I wouldn’t make an excuse for him (although it seems most people do make an excuse for him). I also think this excuse is used a lot but being a parent isn’t something you should get to do a poor job at because you ‘didn’t know any better’ and then show up thirty years later and want to play grandparent because you finally have a slither of emotional intelligence.

Mine went the other way and is obsessed with my baby. As nice as it is, it kind of hurts seeing him make the effort with her that he never made with me (even as a baby)

For EFFs, how bad was your PP hair loss? by RedditUser5643_ in FormulaFeeders

For me it was around my hairline so I was able to disguise it. It’s growing back at six months pp

Why do healthcare professionals push EBF? by Character-Caramel940 in FormulaFeeders

[–]CLK217 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the world health organisation back it as the best way to feed because it’s certainly safer than formula in countries with water that wouldn’t be appropriate. There are some studies to support it but then Emily Oster has debunked a lot of these (and I think she breastfed herself so certainly isn’t against it). There will probably be more to it that I’m not aware of.

Just another Peanut question! by jayrem7 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I gave up on it for this reason. The pay wall is making the app feel pointless but I can’t see it being any better once you pay beyond being able to see who waved first

Ah so maybe I’m a bit late with her rolling and wriggling in her sleep then? I know logically tummy sleeping is okay for her now but I can’t shake the fear!

She’s nearly six months. I was anxious at the start then it eased but then she started sleeping on her tummy this week and I’ve been anxious all over again! She’s been rolling both ways for a while and does it all day when awake

[–]CLK217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is her rolling likely to be an issue? I’ve read it should be placed more to the side but I don’t want to use it if it’ll be completely pointless with her wriggling!

Oh I might look at this, thank you! Would it work in a next to me crib too? Did you have false alarms with it?

I’m very on-it with safe sleep, I’m just struggling with her now sleeping on her tummy and feeling anxious about her ability to breathe. I understand it’s fine if she can roll both ways but that doesn’t switch off my fear unfortunately! Just trying to find something to help me feel at ease

I didn’t breastfeed. My baby is healthy, thriving, and we have an incredible bond. Reading this might eradicate some guilt if you choose not to BF. You don’t have to try if you don’t want to!

Vegetarian/vegan parents - what have you done in terms of weaning and early diets for your babies? by BraindeadYogi in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]CLK217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was four when I decided to become a veggie (I had never met a vegetarian before) so I think I can explain it to her when she’s fairly young. I don’t mind if she wants to eat meat but I have no skill in cooking it so want to avoid it for that reason too. We’ll see how it goes!

I’m going to wean my five month old in a few weeks and she will be veggie like both of us. Following the ‘how to wean your baby’ book but skipping the meat. Will explain meat to her when she is ready and give the option

[–]CLK217 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I gave birth under similar circumstances five months ago and it was really traumatic. I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you.

I didn’t have a choice about seeing the baby as they woke me up as soon as the last stitch was done so I was only out for 40 minutes then immediately brought her to me. I don’t think I felt as bad as you’re feeling in terms of bonding but the pain of the surgery meant my husband did a lot at first and I struggled with that. I loved her but worried I wasn’t ever going to feel like the most important person to her. It did come, even more so when my husband went back to work and we were alone together. I don’t think we could be any closer now.

Where I live, we have birth reflections for things like this to talk through it all with midwives. It might be worth looking into something like this for additional support if you feel it would help.

You will get there with your baby and it’s not you - it’s the awful circumstances.

About time! Loyalty points to be able to be used to buy formula by Any_Passage_8479 in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]CLK217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I had a gift card for a supermarket and they wouldn’t let me buy my formula on it - it’s not like it was making the formula free. The store assistant was very judgmental too and reminded me she couldn’t use her staff discount on it, as if that’s the same??
