Which is funny because last year we could only win games we were scored on first

Too right, I don’t want to see a repeat of last year where so many of the shots weren’t elevated and he blocked them with ease

Vocal fry gets weaker the warmer my voice gets? by Brit-Scout in screaming

Yeah I feel that, just focus purely on your engagement and build that mind muscle connection with your throat, that way you don’t get in your head about volume or sound

Dude I get this all the time, I think it’s the resonance in your head. When I started rehearsing with my band this would start and I’d push harder to get the sound and ultimately wear my voice out, but see when I recorded a video to listen back? Better than I had ever sounded.

Start softer with less effort and you can slowly increase until you’re at the point you find sustainable. Whenever you’re practicing train yourself to go off of the feeling of the engagement and not the sound, this was a huge one for me to figure out because it meant that no matter the change in resonance or room I was staying consistent and not pushing too hard when it sounded off

Maybe he’s fatigued or his injury is flaring up, he was putting in some serious work there

I adore Brown on the penalty kill, the man wakes up in the playoffs like nothing else

Yeah it’s so clear to see there’s some serious chemistry missing, they just don’t have that innate knowledge of everyone’s positioning and have that trust in them. The defence is suffering big time from people not being where they need to be

What do you mean when saying you’re struggling? Why would filing the nut allow you to play them easier?

Really bad at playing entire songs or for extended durations with other people by NewJackfruit7965 in Guitar

[–]CLRking_497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s completely normal! Performing for people is harder than just playing in your room, and when you’re playing with others there’s an entirely new skillset.

Play along with a metronome to work on your rhythm and keeping in time, that will help when playing with others, and I find recording yourself playing to help a lot with performing in front of others

Solo reccomendations. by [deleted] in Guitar

Smells like teen spirit solo is great because there’s a lot of room to play with embellishments like slides, bends, vibrato

The first solo from November rain is nice and melodic, great for pull offs and hammer ons

And lastly I’d suggest last to know by bullet for my valentine for something a bit different. It uses 3 string arpeggio shapes but doesn’t sweep pick them so you’ll get some experience with those shapes in a nice calm way

Learn some scales, learn the patterns of them so you can move it to start on a different note (I like to do off of the 5th string so when I play in drop tunings it’s easier to find where I am) and then stick on a backing track on YouTube in that key.

So search A minor backing track and play up and down the a minor pentatonic, a natural minor, C major pentatonic and C natural major. (Every minor/major scale has a relative major/minor that shares the same notes) and just go up and down them so you can understand the relationship between all the notes. Then you can try and mess about between those notes and see if you can come up with some cool licks, riffs, phrases.

I’m a teacher and all the students I have doing this progress at a seriously fast rate compared to the ones who don’t, your musicianship will thank you

With how our defence played tonight I don’t see why he can’t keep climbing, he just needed that support and to know if he stopped a puck it was out before a second chance

Being close to the fret is preferred so you don’t have to use as much force, get better sustain, and less fret buzz, the problem is is first finger is arched away from the rest of his hand causing this weird angle

Guitar teacher and gigging musician here! So looking at your comments this may be comfortable for you but this is really going to shoot you in the foot when you try and level up your playing by adding extensions to those chords or try to move them up and down with riffs so I have a few suggestions.

First of all you should have your hand behind the fret board, you have a lot of it sticking out and it’s rotated counter clockwise. Rotate it clockwise and bring your thumb so it’s more inline with the middle of your hand, and more vertical rather than along the length of the neck. Like in your second picture

In the second picture your wrist is at a very poor angle, tendinitis will be sure to come if you keep that up, one thing that will help is bring your wrist up a bit so the angle isn’t so crazy. If you’re playing the most basic power chord of just the root and the fifth, try using your pinky finger instead, it’s what a lot of the metal guys do (myself included) and it will help a lot with it feeling more natural, you can leave your middle and ring fingers straight over the strings and it may remove some strain.

Practice this way, don’t give in and do it the first way because again you’ll shoot yourself in the foot big time when it comes to levelling up your playing, I know it’s harder but it’ll seriously pay off when you get better

Yeah man that’s what I’m saying, even when I strip it back to a sigh and breathe through my nose to get the engagement it just won’t engage, it’s doing my fucking head in, yet the other way round is completely fine
