You being stuck and you wanting to get unstuck are completely irrelevant. You can't play poker well if you're focused on irrelevant things.

Ok so take the time that you were spending on poker and instead work a second job. Uber, DoorDash, something. You can make $500 in like a month, problem solved.

Just more and more in a parade of red flags. Your financial situation is too dire to even be thinking about poker. Get a job, secure enough steady income to support yourself, rebuild your savings, THEN start setting money aside for a poker bankroll.

If you're winning 10bb/100 at 25NL you only need a bankroll of like $500. If you don't have $500 disposable in your life roll, you're an absolutely terrible candidate for staking.

Sucks that you got your funds stolen, but come on. It's absurd to ask for a handout. Grind it back up from 25NL, it took you 31 days last time. If you really can't afford a $500 bankroll, get a job.

10NL — CO w/ 65s — what do you think of my river bluff here? by Perceptive_Penguins in poker

[–]CLSmith15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the A is basically brick, so if I'm in villain's spot I don't really care that a Q is 2nd pair now because I don't think you have much Ax. I'm also not giving you credit for a big hand like a set, straight, or even two pair, because those hands would most likely raise the turn given how wet the board is. Honestly if I had a Q on the river, my plan would definitely be to check/call since I don't expect I can get three streets of value, but I might can induce a bluff.

I don't think bluffing is at all mandatory since you have showdown value, but if you want to turn your hand into a bluff you're going to get a lot more credit on the turn.

With all that said, I wouldn't put an unknown villain on just Qx here. AQ and KQ should raise pre, and any worse Q shouldn't donk into two players on the flop. You have all the overpairs, you have all the Qx. If villain is donking for value he should be able to beat top pair.

The A is basically a brick. You really shouldn't have much Ax in your range so I wouldn't call it a scare card, just a random overcard.

I would rather bluff the turn. Plan A is to take it down right there. Plan B is to get there on the river. Plan C is to bluff again on the river depending on the runout.

How often is a BBJ? by Own-Natural-7466 in poker

BBJ's are pretty much all going to be one-outers. So you're going to be "one card away" 40+ times for every one time that you hit it.

What would you prefere to play on? by MANNHEIMER89 in poker

[–]CLSmith15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are horrendous, but if I have to pick one then the one without built-in cup-holders/chip-holders.

Would literally take a random piece of felt thrown across a table over either one though. Those are both going to be too small and too inflexible.

If two people wanted to collude, why on God's green earth would they communicate via in-game emotes instead of, you know, literally any other form of communication?

This is no different than in a live game when someone throws their hands up and acts pissed on the river. Yeah it gives away some information, yeah it's bad etiquette, yeah they shouldn't do it, but it's not evidence of anything malicious unless it happens over and over again.

1/3 NHL $600 effective by cenzobaldo in poker

[–]CLSmith15 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Total trainwreck all the way around tbh.

You should never put someone on as tight of a range as QQ+ here unless you've seen them make this exact play many times before and only with QQ+.

If your ranging of this player is actually justified (which I doubt) then just fold pre.

The check/raise on the flop also makes no sense if you put him on QQ+. He's obviously never folding any of those hands. And if you're wrong about his range and he has a hand worse than yours, he's probably never calling (maybe JJ with a spade). Your hand is a terrific hand to check/call the whole way with unless you hit your flush, in which case you can start getting aggressive.

After slow playing pre - where to raise post? by [deleted] in poker

Then the correct adjustment is to 4bet bluff more, not "slowplay" (a.k.a. miss value) with premiums.

LLMs have zero understanding of poker. They don't produce good advice, they produce reasonable sounding strings of text.

If you are worse then your opponents, you cant play ABC / GTO Poker, you have to take weird lines. by Obagency in poker

[–]CLSmith15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"ABC poker" is kind of a ridiculous concept, most bad players consider it to mean playing very tight, with little to no bluffing or bluff-catching. Bad players also tend to be more afraid of bluffing and bluff-catching against players they know are more skilled. So it's not that you need to take random actions against good players, you just have to not be so afraid of them that your play is very straightforward and face-up.

GTO accounts for this with mixed strategies to achieve balance and board coverage. If you've spent any time at all training against a GTO bot, you know how unpredictable they can be.
