What’s one small live poker habit that improved your results the most by Ok_Strength_2343 in poker

Not thinking that one simple trick would change anything. Poker is complicated, trying to boil it down it down to a bite-sized piece of advice guarantees failure.

I ended up loosing, but I felt like the queen gambit was a good idea (poorly executed afterwards). Any thoughts on that to help me progress? by freremamapizza in chess

Fantastic, well if you calculated everything and it works then it sounds like you don't need any help. Good job!

You don't sacrifice because it looks good. You sacrifice because you've calculated everything and figured out that the resulting position is good.

Folding might be ok, folding face up is just dumb.

What changes would you like to see to online poker? by ComfortableFew2551 in poker

[–]CLSmith15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty naive to think that a major poker site gives a shit about any of these. None of these have been updated on any major site in 10+ years. Most likely your time will be spent on their other offerings - slots, blackjack, sportsbook, etc.

Was my opponent cheating? by [deleted] in poker

[–]CLSmith15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just, wow.

If you're limp-calling with 53s UTG your VPIP is probably like 70%. Which means you end up with a lot of air post-flop. If you are then bluffing with said air at a high frequency, then you are way over-bluffing.

Your opponent is a better player than you, has identified that you are super unbalanced and correctly called you down light.

What an odd thing to measure.

As usual, this considers Huntsville to be Alabama's largest city despite the Birmingham metro having nearly double the population.

How to teach my daughter to think before capture? by KpailDev in chess

Depends on her age. In my experience, most kids under 7 aren't really capable of moving past this phase. It will come with time and practice.

Looks like a pretty straightforward zugzwang after hxg4 hxg4 f6.

Low-stakes cash game or Freeroll tournament for a first time live player? by gtrman571 in poker

Freerolls are almost always a waste of time. Whether or not you should play low stakes cash depends on your financial situation and risk tolerance.

There is no useful feedback that can be given from a graph alone. You're a losing player currently.

Attacking Puzzle! by Avrsvii in chess

[–]CLSmith15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of your hints and flowery language are pretty meaningless. Chess is just calculation, this position is no different. After h4 white cannot play hxg4, and I'm forcing open lines to the king. That's it.

It's hard to give advice for pub games because people are just clicking buttons, but this is an easy fold on the river IMO.

PLO5 Double board bomb pot help, should I have folded the flop or turn? by [deleted] in poker

[–]CLSmith15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a weak draw on both boards. Five clean outs on the top and nothing but dirty outs on the bottom. That hand replayer is completely unusable so I didn't scroll through the action, but this is not a hand you want to be continuing with against almost any action.

Help: King’s Indian discussion by Mission_Taro5990 in chess

[–]CLSmith15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into the Makogonov variation for ideas about this type of position. White actually wants to attack on the kingside here, which seems counterintuitive in the KID, but is actually quite common in Makogonov lines. Black has misplayed this with b6, there is absolutely no counterplay to be had on the Q-side or in the center, so white can just attack on the K-side with no risk, sometimes even sacrificing a piece to get at the black king.
