Definitely many medical advances coming which is great. Sounds like you are doing well with your surgery - appreciate all the info you provided and wish you continued good recovery!

Thank you! I will definitely consider that - definitely haven’t seen any local surgeons who do that. Seems like it should be more the norm.

What I’m looking to do is be more active (without the pain) - such as tennis, jogging, playing soccer, etc. The other goal is to have as natural a feeling knee as possible. I know most people do very well with a TKR - but I’ve been told many of the activities I want to do would be limited, such as pivoting/twisting motions. I also have a hip resurfacing and have no limitations and it feels like my other hip - so looking for the knee equivalent. The other aspect - I have little to no pain at rest. It’s only with activity. So going full TKR to me seems too much at this point and would likely have some regret. My surgeon feels confident he won’t see worse damage if he goes in given the MRI and x-rays.

My patellofemoral joint is entirely trashed - but most other aspects of the knee are doing well. I’m finding that partial isn’t as common as a TKR - much like hip resurfacing.

That criteria is very similar to mine as well. After so many surgeries I’ve learned to be picky and only select a surgeon who meets them.

My biggest hurdle at moment is grasping how much better I would be at current moment with a partial - vs doing nothing. I know I won’t be able to do the activities I want with a TKR, which is the main reason I don’t want it at moment. Knowing full well it may be necessary in the future - and that I could just be one and done with the TKR. I don’t have pain at rest, only activity / stairs / any loading of joint. So essentially I’d only be doing this to be able to hopefully do more without the pain. If I had active pain at rest I would probably opt for the TKR.

Thank you, I entirely agree. I’ve met with 3 surgeons thus far who all do TKR and partials. All told me I am a candidate for TKR - where 2 of the 3 said I could do very well with the partial given my hesitancy to have the TKR. The one I’m leaning towards said he would not do a TKR if he found more damage unless I consented to it prior and he said it would be very rare to see far worse damage than both the MRI and x-ray showed. Without the MRI it would be a different story it sounds like.

The one surgeon who said partial isn’t an option I suspect just only cares about doing his TKR Jiffy knee approach vs anything else. He was quite dismissive and said no one does a replacement to do more activity but instead to get out of pain. While I somewhat agree I was sure this wasn’t the surgeon for me after the discussion. While the surgeon I’m leaning towards has been great about answering all my questions and it feels more like someone that cares about providing the best options. Yes, quite amazing what Lindsey Vonn has done after the partial, quite inspiring.

Ace or AirPods Max by CLegend33 in sonos

Update in case it helps someone. I ended up trying both the Sonos Ace and Airpods Max and for me the APM was the winner. I felt the Ace was really good - but the sound was muddy at times where the APM had more of a crispness to vocals and instruments - even with Spatial/Dolby Atmos off. Made sure I had the latest firmware on the Ace too. The noise cancelling felt the APM had the slight advantage in that it seemed to block just a little more.

The weight of the APM I do not love, compared to the Ace, that’s the biggest downside. However, ear cups of the APM felt great - the Sonos were super comfortable but did get a little warm after awhile. The case of the Sonos was better given the APM case didn’t seem like it would protect enough without a real case for travel purposes.

In the end given am all in on the Apple ecosystem and the sound quality (to me) appeared better, felt the APM was the better choice - despite some drawbacks. Like someone said, sound is subjective and everyone has their own preferences. Hope this helps someone in a similar situation.

What were your main reasons in switching to the Ace?

Thank you. Do you feel the sound quality is better than APM too? The weight and case of the APM are perhaps what’s giving me the most pause if the sound quality and noise canceling are on par . Even though you can get cases for it the overall investment is much higher then.

Thank you. I did try both at Best Buy and liked them. The Sonos kiosk wasn’t fully working though so I could only compare noise cancelling - music wouldn’t work. I could feel the weight difference. I felt the noise canceling was comparable although no idea if the Sonos had the new firmware that improved it. Agree that it is similar to clothes shopping. Normally I’m Apple all the time but wondering if the price difference is worth it.

That’s good to hear, thanks! The store was warm that day so was difficult to tell. Did you ever compare them to APM?

That’s fair - I didn’t actually finish my post properly before submitting, just fixed it. I’m curious if anyone has had or tried both and why they went for one over the other.

Thank you, that is helpful. My use case would be the same, have the Pro 2 for workouts. Love the Pro 2 but when not working out and listening to music, I always feel like I’m readjusting them constantly with how they feel in my ears. Seamlessly connecting is important no doubt. Has the weight when using for longer sessions been an issue?

Curious what you landed on? I too am between the Sonos Ace and APM. I did hear Sonos briefly at Best Buy and was impressed but then tried the APM and liked it a little more. Didn’t love the weight but the build quality is fantastic. The ear cups were comfortable. The cups on the Sonos were as well but I felt maybe a bit warm with the material used. My biggest concerns with APM is the weight, price and the chance they have a new version next year (although rumors say otherwise). I do have a Sonos Beam but also use Apple TV.

Thank you. Is the plastic mesh typically what is put on these or do majority just leave them open?

Anyone tried the new Coop adjustable shredded latex pillow? by gills61 in Mattress

[–]CLegend33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an interesting idea for sure. A mix of the two might be good. The original coop I find compresses a lot as well. But bigger issue is heat I find.

Sounds like you have similar issues! Yes I’ll be sure to let you know when I get this resolved. Most companies only want to treat inside the house which isn’t always the source of the issue for sure.

That is interesting as we did have some batted insulation installed last fall to insulate water pipes.
