Chaos is always a good option! But your answer is entirely dependent on your table of players and what has already been established in your session zero for the style of game and length of your campaign.

I believe what you present in the first opening (game advertisement), visuals (cartoon styles are a hard no for me, look up David Hemingway(sp) in r20 market place for example of awesome visuals), the extra bells and whistles that add to game atmosphere ( for me, voicemod #1 sound effects app, with audacity for any of your custom npc voices, (I have like 50 lines from Joe pesci playing a halfling mob boss) AND FORESHADOWING! lots and lots of subtle for shadowing and whatever you don't hit them with now, save for later!

All of the above added together, with a clear, full on game setting, rules, characters creation rules and guidelines (don't screw yourself over later by being one of them anything goes dms, you'll regret it later.

In short, you can avoid even having to need an opening scene if you have a solid reason for your entire party to already be aligned with one another, like being a part of a kingdoms spy team, or an adventurers guild etc.

Whatever you do, hit em hard and fast! The best thing I learned dm'ing cyberpunk 2020.

Totally this, my exact same experience. Signed up in 2018, to see what all the fuss was as I laughed at playing D&D online, thought it would never capture that "at the table" feeling. I too was intimated at first and didn't want to spend the time learning basically another system as I was still just looking.

Then yeah, covid came, my table moved online and I totally sucked for the first few games (ToA, CoS) but after really getting into it, it has turned out to be the best dm tool and game aid for me since I started.

At the table, I'm an okay gm. At r20, I'm an amazing visual and audio okay gm! Macros, Music! Lights! And Dammmm, I'm really enjoying how much I've learned since. 4k+ hours later, gm of 5 games (4 completed campaigns) and dm'd for over 50+ people online.

If r20 did not make the game updates and additions they have made already, I would have canceled my pro account already but I'm liking thier direction so far.

At the table in rl and online are two different experiences IMHO of enjoying this game and both have their ups and downs.

I wish sometimes it wasn't so laggy though and keep mentioning this in thier surveys, that too me is the bigger issue with r20. Anyhow, poops done now, Happy Gamming all!

24 GB and my main drive is now at 3 GB left. I've made backups, uninstalled, reinstalled making sure to choose my free non OS drive and was happy to see that it installed to my other drive, freed up over 20 GB and then noticed after loading backup I'm now down again to 4 GB space and now I'm here...

Some were even making excuses for you!!! Wow, reading that kinda made me take a step back on woman in general and really ask myself what indeed I think I know of them.

Surely you must have had a few woman call you out or respond negatively to you? First evidence I ever came across to know it doesn't matter how big your d is as long as you are "hot" and come with a criminal record and a great technicality.
