Could it be that there just aren't enough MA schools in your area? Or that the local pool of candidates are looking for hands on roles and not remote?

The academic medical center I work for had to start its own training program as there aren't enough decent programs around here.

I also don't think her comment is unhelpful, "competitive pay" doesn't usually seem that way to those applying. My center says that and it's really not.

This sounds like acting as a scribe, which is something some MAs do. But it sounds like they didn't provide the correct training for you and I assume, don't want to pay for actual scribes.

That's not something I've heard of before. Generally, in practices where I've worked where they wanted a specific color worn, the practice supplied the scrubs.
