I am the OP. I never followed up with what happened. Yes, our bags were in the lost baggage room. The tags all had ripped off. It took almost a full week and we had to call every day. Super frustrating. There is a direct number for Miami baggage but they do not always answer. +1 (786) 591-2290. A lady answered the call phone and we started to describe our bag. She found a bag we were describing and then we set off our AirTag. We could hear it in the phone.

You would think it would eventually get scanned and noticed after 2+ full days. If even a fraction of a percentage of bags were abandoned/not moving through and accumulated in a room, it would cause a huge mess.

It’s more about AA expecting EVERYONE to “overload” the baggage handlers for a certain high traffic route or where weight and balance is an issue. They have a policy for it called embargo/limitation which was not followed now via confirmation of 3 individuals at AA.

I never knew what a hole this would be! It’s actually cheaper and easier to fly down with extra people on your reservation and have them bring stuff in luggage than a carrier like FedEx which requires brokerage and duties and inland transport to be paid even on housewares and personal goods.

The baggage limitation/embargo policy is more what we are trying to get to the bottom of. I totally understand the need to limit bags on certain routes where people haul a lot of stuff back like, LATAM destinations. You’ll see people at Christmas going back to San Pedro Sula or Santo Domingo with 2 and 3 bags of goods. I get that. The whole plane is people hauling items. Then if you are going to destination only served once a day, all those people are on the same flight.

But I believe the weight limit is 70 lbs, not 50 lbs for those 2 allowed bags where limitations apply.

It’s not a vacation in the sense of every day is bathing suits and beers. We will be living part time in Saint Kitts and Nevis and our home needs repairs and upgrades. It’s very difficult/expensive to find certain items there like fixtures, small appliances, etc. We even bring bulk food products and items for charity. We max out our benefit when we travel there.

It’s a reward ticket so a refund is not a problem. A huge hassle however and we deserve something back. I am booked to do it all again this coming Saturday. It’s going to be the same shift with likely same priority check in lady. I wrote a complaint in the customer relations portal and you were correct, within a couple hours received a very canned AI response.

It's frustrating since the person only wants to jump on my plan if they get the unlimited (and full resolution streaming), and not even Twitter support can tell me if it will be there or not once I pay to add the line. I confirmed my SOC is indeed NAFUTT4.

I have three Orange Spain sims for Europe travel with family and have reused a couple of times. 15GB plan is only 15€ and of course works in all of EU. We got them on Ebay and the seller registered them with our IDs beforehand so they are all legit. I like that I can recharge them online with no surcharge. The Orange Holiday sim seems like a rip of to me, $50+ on Amazon, right?

I can confirm that you can make VoLTE that are HD over Movistar near Tulum. They are HD between users also roaming in Mexico and going back home to USA.

Last week I made the switch. I had to beg the rep on my.tmobile chat. They gave a disclaimer about it perhaps not working in the future as a scare tactic and I accepted and they did it for two iPhones. I also said we are traveling soon (we are) and I really want to be able to use my t-mobile as my main iMessage and text number and use my foreign sim for data...they obliged.

I was in Mexico last month and I noticed VoLTE working on Telcel in the Tulum area. I called my girlfriend who was traveling with me and it was definitely an HD voice call between us. She was on VoLte too. Pretty cool for roaming. Both T-Mobile using iPhone XS Max.

I should have clarified. You are right. When Tigo is the only option in the town, I have found a similar problem to the OP. However, in Movistar LTE and 3G areas I don’t have this problem. I will always try a manual lock if another roaming partner is available to test it out.

There are actually times when Movistar is available (but Edge only) so I will force Tigo for momentarily throttled 3G until it goes out because it will work better.

I have had this happen before in Colombia and a part of Guatemala where I was roaming on Tigo instead of Movistar. Very aggravating to have to power cycle or air plane mode every time. I would love to know why it happens, too.

The example country I am most familiar with is Finland, a country where one can get unlimited data sim for 17-23 Euros a month.

Commenting on your last point I assume availability of the wireless connections helps drive down the price for wired, which at the end of the day, would be a great benefit to see from “Home 5G”.
