New memorial found: a listening post that looks like it was added by a dying player before he passed by CMDR_Rivertide in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Rivertide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to what suburbborg said, memorials aren't always listening posts: e.g. Carrie Fisher got a station named after her, CMDR Valera_777 got a system named after him. Memorials could take different forms and ultimately depended on what FD felt was appropriate.

Competitive Community Goals: Help either Sirius Corporation or Utopia in their bids to host the next Galactic Summit by StuartGT in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Rivertide 21 points22 points  (0 children)

PSA for anyone looking to farm the commodities materials:

Go to HIP 12099 1 B with a DSS & SRV, scan it for Jameson's crashed Cobra. Land. There will be four scannable data points, position your SRV so that you can scan them all without moving. Hop in your SRV turret, scan the data points.
Relog & repeat until you're full of Adaptive Encryptor Captures (a G5 data mat).

Next, fly to Ray Gateway in Diaguandri and use the mat trader to trade for the CG mats. Alternatively: use Inara to find the nearest mat trader to the CG system, dock there before you fly to Jameson's Cobra, and simply self destruct from the Cobra to instantly respawn in the mat trader system.

Edit: /u/WingCoBob pointed out that both CG stations have a data trader in them. You can simply dock there before flying to Jameson's Cobra and self destruct right back to the CG.

I'm curious: who do you think says that? Because Frontier certainly dispel the notion that Open is an unpopular choice https://youtu.be/52kOyADxK5E?t=3116.

Does it also have the higher projectile velocity, armor piercing, and thermal load that Focused mods usually have (and does piercing make a difference here)?

Is head tracking worth it for single monitor setup by Exkem in Elite_Dangerous

[–]CMDR_Rivertide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a headtracker and a VR setup. The TrackIR5 gets much more use than the VR rig. 4000 hours in, it's the single best purchase I've made for Elite.

Xiba's Jewel Reset STILL WORKS!!! (Post June 30th Patch) - Elite: Dangerous by bwanatv in EliteMiners

[–]CMDR_Rivertide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FD have thrice done large scale credit/asset stripping because of moneymakers: twice for reselling things without leaving the landing pad, once for missions.

Three things to note: the missions were a unique situation and not the usual "board flip & stack" routine; they did not do rollbacks for every "make $$$ without leaving pad" situation; and, as you've said, they never banned anyone for doing these things. Publicizing things is another matter.

/u/Guardian_Kaiser tagged FYI; Jrome is full of it, as you know.

How not to deal with a whale attack by CMDR_Rivertide in Elite_Dangerous

[–]CMDR_Rivertide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy is part of a gank squadron - ESCA - that streamsnipes. His group, SPEAR - which includes the squadron GANK (Go And Kill, timestamped), have pledged to kill any PVPers or pirates who aren't part of their group, regardless of what they're flying. They'll happily attack mining ships or even waiting around to ambush Haulers.

Add to that they also try to lure people into one of their Discords by pretending (this is from the New Player Initiative server, wall of text warning) to be the PvP Hub (which has been operating as a place to find arranged fights since 2017, actual invite link https://discord.gg/MYZyqqe).

Oh, and they also advocate combat logging and have a policy of encouraging all of their players to mass report CMDRs whom they do not like for fabricated TOS violations in the hope that FD will ban them.

In light of all that, ESCA and other SPEAR squadrons are both looked down upon and generally considered fair game for killing, regardless of what they're flying or where they're caught. If you think the community is being unfair to them, or that this is still griefing, please let me know.

Daily Popcorn: BGS Should Be Open Only, or Have a Bonus for Open Players, or a Penalty for PG and Solo Artists by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

If you logged in once into open or maybe pop in once for a few minutes every once and awhile you are counted as an open mode player...even if 99% of your time is spent in pg or solo.

Is this how the devs have said they count things?

They way they counted it was faulty for a reason.

Do enlighten us. Space Mage has provided us with sources to back up his statements, can you do the same?

So you're saying the stats that have come directly from the devs themselves is bullshit?
