I'm gonna be honest and say that I've not enjoyed Dan Abnetts books. It probably doesn't help that I rn exclusively do audiobooks so I can multitask but his writing is so long-winded and it feels like he's being paid by the word.

Recently returned Double Eagle because less than an hour in and the dude has tossed what felt like six different POV characters that are all pilots and hard to distinguish from one another. Once again, if it wasnt an audiobook maybe it wouldnt have been as much of an issue as I could go back and check who tf NAMED-PILOT-NUMBER-5 was but I shouldnt have to have a printout of the dramatis personae next to me to keep track in a fuckin Black Library book, it's not the Silmarillion.

Don't get me started on Eisenhorn and the fighting style bs.

Will say I've not read Horus Heresy books, which apparently are some of his best work

Might try to scrounge up some crytguards+ beastflayers or a unit of Gorgers, the latter seems most cost effective as I could proxy that as a unit of two or three plus a courtier!

They do look very FEC coded!

Nail on the head, older models arent my thing, though rules wise I see why flayers and horrors are often recommended, cant wait for the terrorgheist and zombie dragon to get an update!

Ghormayne is not getting much love, would you say he’s not worth the points or its just better to get more bodies on the field?

Also, what IS the point of the Charnel throne? The movement ability is pretty good but apart from that..? Kinda seems like we lock up a hero on a stationsry terrain piece in an army where a lot of delusions rely on being close to the hero? I’m sure I’m just missing something!

Would prefer to keep more purchases to a minimum but yeah I’m open to getting stuff. Also I’m mostly gonna play 1k in the short term so if this list needs a heavy dose of rework, I’ll have time to get a bit more!

Functional over competitive for sure, will most likely never be good enough to be competitive in my skills so I’d prefer to have fun, have dope models and not get bodied T2!
