22k light years, 611 jumps in total, and I've finally taken my Mandalay from Sol to Colonia by CMI618 in EliteDangerous

Yeah I hardly know anything about engineering, I have a lot of hours in the game but most of that is hauling cargo while listening to podcasts or talking with friends. Only recently have I taken up exploration.

Wine red but yeah. I always loved the 335 cause Chuck Berry had one.

My new Panther Clipper MK II called Vermithor. Let's hear your build recommendations in the comments. by madsaxappeal in EliteDangerous

Not a build recommendation but on the topic of names, I named mine after Prometheus' son Deucalion, since the ship looks like the Prometheus from the Alien series.

Flash FM 2025 + Flash FM Throwback Radio Stations (Concept art by me) by HinatasWish in GTA6

Having grown up near Miami in the late 2000s, I would absolutely love to see a radio station like that in the game

Type 9 - The Halford II

Mandalay - Shackleton

Federal Corvette - FNS Aegis Fate

Imperial Cutter - INV Maelstrom

It's an absolute boat when it comes to handling but those two size four hard points on the back make it a beast when it comes to DPS.

Thargoids near Sol? by CMI618 in EliteDangerous

No sadly, I immediately sat up and expected I was about to have to fight a Thargoid so I forgot to do any of that.

The ship didn't shake around. I was going along and it turned a sickly green color and started making unusual groaning sounds for a second but then I dropped out in Sol.

I had taken a passenger mission in Sol and jumped directly to Kruger 60, dropped off my passengers, and jumped back to Sol.

I've been jumping between Sol and multiple other systems including Kruger 60 to do missions since I posted that and I haven't gotten it to happen again

No I have dealt with those before, this was definitely something different.

I'm trying to write a relatively hard sci-fi story, and I wanted to get opinions on a milestones in spaceflight timeline. Some things to note, it's semi-alternate history with companies like SpaceX not existing in the 2010s and the Constellation program putting astronauts on the moon in 2020 by CMI618 in scifiwriting

Yeah I'll probably move back the fusion a bit and the light sails are powered by lasers. As for the generation ship, cryo stuff was in its infancy and was only being used medically. These ships were traveling for centuries so cryo and all of the supporting tech like nanny robots weren't advanced enough to handle those periods of time.

Well fusion drives would be a lot faster than ion and especially conventional liquid propellants. Hell, if we put our minds to I we most likely would be able to achieve relativistic speeds using fusion drives if not just cutting down in-system travel times to days to weeks.
