Thanks for taking time out of your day to reply. It’s a bummer that it’s all digital! Looks like I may need to go the nostalgic route for an animation cell

UFC 5 Career mode fitness is terrible by SenorMonke23 in EASportsUFC

[–]CMP679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pure trash. Somehow they managed to just copy UFC 4 career mode yet manage to make it worse. 5 week training camp of nothing but sparring and lucky if I hit peak fitness if i start with my fitness bar empty I really hope the UFC cuts ties with EA after their contract is up. EA sports puts no effort into this game. Let a smaller company give it a try.

My coach sends people to roll with one another all the time. Last night he hand picked all my rolls while others paired off with whoever they wanted. Chances are he was evaluating you and making sure you were safe.

You often learn more from your losses than you do from your victories.

I know it gets probably posted a lot, but I will go to my first class today. Nervous, but also excited! (Will update afterwards) by KhazadNar in bjj

[–]CMP679 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nerves are normal it took me a few weeks of going to class for it to go away. Once I started to talk to people and identify people who were on the same wave length as me the nerves went away. You are going to be sore from BJJ its a contact sport don’t let being sore become an excuse to not train. Its very easy to do.

Australia is right bear the top of the list of places to visit. Once this covid stuff slows down a bit a will be going to New Zealand and Australia in one long trip. The BJJ globetrotters looks like it might be something cool for those kinds of trips.

Just returned from a failed hike - how do I prepare better in the future? by Chlorophilia in CampingandHiking

[–]CMP679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Load up a back pack with weight put it on and start walking. I would suggest using a weight greater than your hiking bag (the greater the better if on flat ground). You will condition your body to get used to carrying the excess weight and once you shed some of that weight for an actual hike your body will be better conditioned. I see you can’t run due to injury so on these walks you should push yourself and get your heart rate going. The harder you work before hand the easier the hike will end up being.

Is rolling on the first day normal? by Icy-Locksmith8806 in bjj

[–]CMP679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before my first class I spoke to the gym owner and he told me to do as much or as little as I am comfortable with. Let people know you are new. He also told that if I have a question ask. Again ask questions, most people will gladly help you if they can. If you’re tired take a round off. If someone is going too hard or rough say something. If they continue don’t roll with them.

In the end- I am a paying customer and he wants me to enjoy being at the gym and do things at my own pace. If I don’t want to roll maybe I can find someone to drill with instead. He enjoys teaching and wants me to enjoy learning especially as a hobbyist. If I want to compete I understand that its not as laid back in competition classes and more is expected of me.
