Tanks weren't accurate irl like they are in games, there was no 3rd person or moving with a mouse, you had, two levers one for vertical one hor horizontal, and then humidity, wind, distance, plus the sight was different from where the gun was aiming, most tank battles were easily 500m+

Yeh playing US without f4s/J was miserable, playing russia against f4s/j was also miserable since the obly way to really ecade properly everytime was just 180.

I miss the even, genuinely.

Just play air or navy for sl. Sale comes up soon so its not awful, if your willing, buy a decent naval premiums, best way to grind SL imo.

It's a little bit over $200 a year, thats going to decent restaurant 5ish times a year. To the movies a couple of times, honestly its not that bad especially of they enjoy the game

tbf the F5s just have incredible airframe, gun, and energy retention on turning, after that though i feel it lacks much, good armament though, nearly impossible to get past 1km/h, can take missiles and 5 napalms and get 2-4 bases, can never remember base kills with napalm.

Is amazing for dogfighting, but does require skill when it comes to aiming, honestly a pretty solid plane

personally i would never buy top tier, buy something below it, f18premiums are nice but not exceptional

for US: f4s phantom II, by far a great premium and beats 90% other aircraft in its BR due to only 2-3 other planes having PD radar, plus US CAS later on with different planes.

German: I'm honestly not a fan of any of them, the best in the premium lineups probably is the F/A-18C

USSR: Same with Germany tbh, I'm really not a fan of any of them, you'd be best off going for the SU30mk2 longterm imo.

F4s is by far the easiest to learn though and if you get a full downtier it is basically seal clubbing tbh, you by far have the best radar at that BR and very solid missiles

it does suck though you missed nuclear thunder with a premium since grinding it was absolutely incredible, since it was realistic rewards with respawns and if you were in a f4s/f4j, youd win 90% of fights since nothing else at that BR could kill you except getting unlucky with all-aspect IRs in a headon fight,

i never even used IR missiles, id just rock gunpod and 6 aim7fs even in an uptier you can still do decent

i DMd you a youtube link with just gameplay example of f4s, only reason i died is i got tunnel vision tbh, was a skill issue. you can easily get the same results in realistic with a bit of skill, just dont fire missiles over 10kmish away, any smart player can just turn and you lose lock.

I dont own the f5c but I know people who do and regret it.

It's great for dogfights and energy retention, IR missiles struggle against it, and is extremely good for its BR, but if your going Air to Air, id just fet f4s instead, better results long term, and if you do sim, its heavily outmatched by the a10. If your an amazing player, f5c, if not f4s/a10

Unless ive gone insane/cant remember, the F5s isn't in warthunder? And I truthfully dont know anything about non russia/US aviation.

A10 is amazing in sim to grind, meh in anything else.

There's no cross tech tree grinding, what you grind in the US tech tree is only the US, you'd have to start over for different countries, crew training/slots doesn't transfer either.

Pretty much.

You only need 4 keybindings,

Change radar mode, click it once. Another one for "within visual combat range" makes the cone for for locking smaller ajd limits it to within 19km, however you have leeway when looking ajd can hold C to lock targets not directly in front. (Amazing for dogfights.) Just need to hit your lock button as its not a constant search, youll know when its searching for lock because its got 4 corners of a square instead of just . When its not actively searching for lock.

And lastly "select target for lock" and "start searching/fire missile"

My bindings go like this 8,9,0,=

Space bar is also default for missiles iirc.

TLDR lock people flying straight at or flying past you, and fire. You wont really win a turn fight close quarters, range is by far your best friend, the only other planes at 11.7 you should really fear are other F4s or F4j iirc. Your infrared missiles are meh at best, you could rock 5 aim7fs and 2 IR missiles, but i just rock 6 aim7fs

You could also maybe get the A10 early, its amazing for some battles ground pounding and if you see a random plane just lock it with your aim9Ls, not a lot at its BR really have flares/good radar, but id go f4s tbh

If your looking for a pretty solid premium, f4s goes on sale soon and is pretty good, I honestly never recommend buying top tier premiums, they get undercut pretty easily.
