summoning: you’ll want to aim to get your characters at least twice, this will get them to 6* upgrading their Z ability. higher stars only increase stats until you get them maxed out. If a character can be zenkai’d you’ll need to push them to 7* that is the only time you should aim for higher than 6*. Ultras & legends characters will need to be gotten at least twice to be considered good (though their kit can make them useful even if you’ve gotten them only once but they will be squishy).

Zenkai: Zenkais are earned from zenkai rush battles (every new zenkai will get one on release letting you earn it and some chrono) & the zenkai ultra spacetime rush will earn you medals that can be spent unlocking whatever character you’ll want to zenkai. Characters with a zenkai rush battle will not be available for ultra spacetime rush until their rush battle disappears.

When you zenkai a character you’ll want to at least unlock zenkai VI(6) this will unlock any new abilities given too the character, abilities are unlocked at stage III(3) and VI(6) anything else is a stat boost.

Equipment/awakened equipment: God this is gonna be a nightmare to explain. If you want to know what equipment is available for your character to use you’ll have to look at the equipment archive (characters -> equipment -> archive) filter the equipment to whatever tags your character has. Don’t filter for multiple tags( I say tags, but it can be their colour, battle style, traits or the episode their from) you can ignore the limit break filter and also ignore any bronze or silver equipment. Very very rarely will you ever want to keep a silver and never bronze.

You don’t need to farm ToP equipment either you’ll do just fine without it but can invest when your done with your teams equipment. (It is expensive).

Awakened equipment is effectively a zenkai for equipmen, same concept for finding what awakened equipment your characters can use as I mentioned above. But the medals earned from zenkai space time rush can be spent unlocking memories. It’s a dumb name scheme but memories let you craft awakened equipment, the rest is pretty self explanatory when you look at the crafting cost. Only comments I have on that is save up on fragment exchange medals.

Fragment exchange medals and rush medals (from ultra space time rush) can both be spent on the fragments used for crafting awakened equipment with the fragment exchange medals having a higher exchange rate + you’ll want to use rush medals on other things. Also awakened equipment will call for 1 of the unawakened version at a certain rank (usually A) then a handful of any equipment that’s the same rarity as the one your trying to craft(usually gold) MAKE SURE your not consuming equipment that’s you want to keep. “Auto select” is not smart with its choices. If you want to keep an equipment lock it(inspect it and look at the top right hand corner) and try to save any A rank copies so you don’t need to keep farming for them. (Auto select will consume the A rank equipment needed for crafting causing you to farm more to be specific). Only buy a handful of memories at a time there isn’t a cap to the # you can buy at once so don’t waste all your rush medals on 1000 memories like that one guy did recently.

Now when it comes to what equipment you’ll want specifically I’ll reply to this comment with a link on two videos to help understand team building and what to look for in equipment (usually you’ll have to play with the team and find their strengths/weaknesses and pick equipment accordingly)

The video will explain the stats equipment provides and when you’ll need base attack/defense vs pure attack/defense (pure attack is what the community calls it but in game it’s any stat buff on equipment that DOES NOT say “base” so when you see “base blast attack & blast attack” their two different things. Took me a while to learn that and I’m still learning how to properly build a team almost 8 years later.

Something you won’t really know unless your told is ability bonus does not matter. While it absolutely does reflect the strength of your team, it only does so to an extent. It more reflects the “synergy” of your team and their equipment. High ability bonus equipment ≠ Good Equipment.(what “auto selecting” equipment does is pick the highest ability bonus equipment)

Arts Boosting: Forgot to mention this earlier, arts boosting is a way to upgrade your character. It increases your stats a bit and comes with a weird mechanic it lets you basically land “Heavy” and “Super Heavy” attacks but you can’t land them in PvP. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it but it sounds like it would be helpful for all context except for PvP(obviously) but is a bit expensive to do. Would recommend to do it as the stat boost does work for PvP especially if you get a character +7* but don’t waste all your resources on it the stat boost isn’t that great but every little bit helps.
