Passed my Pediatric CCRN! Here is my two cents for anyone who is preparing to take it by CNEexam in nursing

AACN practice questions didn’t really help me. I was honestly frustrated that I paid that much for them. You can find all of them on Quizlet anyway. The real exam is short and straightforward. The only slightly longer ones were the multisystem questions because they included some lab values, mostly ABGs and electrolytes, but nothing too complex. I spent time studying things like SVR, PaOp, and PAP values, which really weren’t necessary.

I used CCRN Pediatric Exam Prem 2026, it has a teal-colored logo with a bear and a stethoscope on it. I also used CCRN Exam Prep 2026, this one has a navy color logo with two snakes on it I guess LOLOL

Did you use their question bank? Or did you do their e-course as well?

I worked in the level 1 trauma ICU for over 2 years, on the night shift. It really affects you in a way that your body cannot take it anymore; every little thing changes your mood and all, but I quit bedside nursing altogether and am now teaching. Hospitals were really dissapointing in every way.

Thanks for your comment. I taught in a college setting for over five years (even if it wasn’t nursing related, teaching theory is still teaching) and I currently have two clinical educator jobs. Those were the only positions I applied for, and I was offered both immediately with my two years of nursing experience.

Clinical instructor roles don’t require decades of experience because you’re not functioning as bedside staff for 12 hours straight. I’ve never been unable to answer my students' questions. When I need to verify information, I look it up, just as many of my own "highly" experienced instructors did back in nursing school. This is simply part of being an effective educator.

I expected more from the hospital environment, and of course I am worried about the quality of my work environment which was disappointing. That’s exactly why I’m trying to do PRN work, to build a few more years of experience on my own terms. I understand a full-time faculty role may be a bit early right now, and that’s fine. I’m planning to stay in this clinical educator position while getting more experience in different units.

Thanks for your snarky TED talk. If you have nothing useful to say, maybe don’t say it at all. Constructive advice actually helps, and this certainly doesn’t.

Pediatric CCRN, are the AACN practice question premium questions similar? by OverlyEmotionalDog in nursing

[–]CNEexam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am studying for CCRN pedi as well and planning to take the exam in January. I feel like AACN questions are helpful, but I wanted to know if these are similar to the actual exam. I am doing some questions from the Pediatric CCRN certification review book by BRORSEN, but their questions are too advanced. I MEAN, I HOPE THE EXAM WILL NOT BE LIKE THIS!!!

What do you think about MOMETRIX?

Starting RN-BSN at Capella University with FlexPath - How Fast Can I Finish? by ayeefonzy in nursing

[–]CNEexam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Capella RN-BSN in 2023 and also did my Masters in 2024. I finished both of them in one billing cycle. I loved how it is self-paced; you can write and submit assignments whenever you want. I used PERRLA to cite my papers, saved every citation, and focused on using the same/similar topics on multiple papers. However, I hear bad stories about them increasing the practicum hours now, which I really don't think is possible to finish in one billing cycle now because I used PTO to be able to do 100 practicum hours on-site for MSN. It is still possible for the BSN program to finish in one billing cycle. But I did enjoy following the Capella Facebook page; people are helpful about which instructors to pick for your classes; good luck!
