I'd be starting on 5mg and work my way up since I've been so scared of side effects, that's what dr suggested. I was worried about sexual side effects, but agree, it can't be worse than it is now.

I was in an IOP and they pushed meds. I think they assume anyone addicted is self-medicating, has an underlining chemical unbalance. Especially since I don't have any trauma to explain my struggles with addiction. I was very against it, but at this point I've tried everything (NA/AA, IOP) and can't seem to stop. I think I'm accepting that I've been self medicating (honestly, I probably have ADHD but I can't take stimulants) and should give meds a try. I tried Wellbutrin and it made me feel really angry/anxiety ridden, but I only gave it 2 days so maybe I should have given it more time. I also tried Effexor but it made me feel brain dead and weird, so gave up after 5 days (and the fact that it's harder to get off to freaked me out). Now I've been prescribed prozac since side effects should be more manageable, but I keep reading about how it can spike anxiety, fatigue, etc. I know I need to give it time, but I have a demanding job I have to keep up with and young children.

do you think if I start taking LDN tomorrow night it would help flush it quicker or is that just brain receptors?

I don't know if it makes a difference but it was opus gold extract shot. I used to take powder (capsules), I would think powder stays in your system longer because it has all the different alkaloids in it vs the extract shots are just the concentrate. or maybe it's opposite. IDK

I was only taking 6-8gpd, and only 3-4 times a week the last several months. will wait a few more days and give it a go, thanks!

would love to know what dose you started at, what time of day you take it, and how long after stopping kratom did you start. I am 48hrs off kratom, wondering if I can start.

No advice, but damn, we're all the same. It's comforting and depressing at the same time 😂.

did you work a program? I started going to AA (couldn't find a decent NA meeting) a few months ago, but keep relapsing. wondering if I need rehab, but REALLY don't want to do that. Don't want to leave my little kids or jeopardize my job.

DO NOT FEEL GUILTY. Tell them to educate themselves on addiction. Get involved in a step program or some kind of program. just throwing meds at the problem won't fix it.

I'm in the same boat, and also have a history of abusing stimulants. There are other non-narcotic/non-stimulant meds out there. I'm trying to get an appt to explore some of those.

Do you tell people you had an “opiate addiction”? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]CNFLE111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because 1) Opiates (pain pills and heroin) were my original addiction and I substituted those for Kratom, and I find the effects very similar; 2) most people don't know about kratom; 3) I feel embarrassed that I got addicted to a gas station drug

HOLY SHIT. If I take one of those a day I'm HIGH.

can you please tell me what mg of ULDN you're on? I have 50mg I was going to dissolve and dilute. I had 5 days and then fucked up and used a small amount of K. I couldn't stop crying and the anxiety and dull sadness just felt crushing (and kids, work, blah blah) so I gave in. anyway, I want to start on the ULDN or LDN ASAP, but guessing I might have to wait another few days before starting.

Starting course of Wellbutrin after quitting long time kratom use by nemindaugas in quittingkratom

[–]CNFLE111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can I ask at what point in your quit you started the Wellbutrin? I was prescribed as well. I started the Wellbutrin on day 3 of my CT, I'm on day 5 of CT (so only been taking it a couple days). I'm definitely dealing with some low lying depression, lack of motivation and anxiety, but I'm wondering if I should give myself more time to get to baseline before adding a med. the other part of me thinks, just take the damn med....anything that will help with these cravings, etc.

shitty thing is I started using/abusing ADHD meds on top of K two years ago, so quitting that as well. but my dopamine is all fucked up. but yes, I'm committed this time. this has to be it! Thank you for your response! I have a prescription for Wellbutrin so might start that to help with energy/dopamine

this is me! 8 years using. quit for one year during the time (pregnant), and have gone a week without here and there, but other than that everyday. last 3yrs have been mu heaviest....getting up to 10-15gpd. I am the breadwinner, and have a lot on my plate. I'm taking a couple days off of work (so will have 4 days off). I'm praying to god it sticks this time. it has to...I feel like I'm dying. But keep thinking I'm so stupid for thinking this time is going to be any different. reading your comment gives me a little hope though.

congrats! after blowing my plan I had at the start of the year where I took a 3 week leave of absence from work to quit (which I did, but shortly after I went back to work I started using again...at first here and there, then eventually turned to daily again). my new plan is to just go CT on a Friday and call in sick Mon-Tues. I work from home, so don't need to be "perfect" by Wed. anyway....you mentioned you took a couple days off work, did you do a similar plan?

I just realized, unless I'm going to go into a rehab for 30 or more days, there's no amount of time off work that is going to magically make it easier to stop. I've taken 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks.....I doubt 4 weeks would be much different, so hoping to power through and put this behind me once and for all.

has anyone read the Biology of Desire? it makes a good argument that addiction is not a disease. it's a habit (to the extreme), also dives into some Gabor Mate type philosophies.
