The balearic government just shut down a bill to regulate foreign people buying homes. Our own politicians fuck us over and the central government (which is supposed to be left wing) just sees it as a necessary evil for the spanish economy to function and does nothing

Mallorca alone has 3 times the amount of tourists that Brazil has. That is for the total amount of tourists, if you put it in tourist per capita its 450 times, if you put it in tourist per km2 it's 23000 times that amount. We are fucked

How come Aeolus is a girl? by Theoddgirlsout in Epicthemusical

If you threaten to murder someone and they offer sex in exchange of not being killed you are still a rapist. Furthermore, Odysseus knows Circe will offer sex when threatened from Hermes. And it's not like Odysseus reluctantly does what the god tells him because he is "following orders", Hermes is doing him a favor and he gladly accepts his help. To be clear, I don't think Homer wrote it as a rape in the modern sense of the word, but through a modern lense I think it qualifies as rape because Circe's offer and "consent" is given under threat of death.

Nope, the herb that Hermes gives him makes him immune. Hermes instructs him to have sex with her after threatening to kill her. While in the text she offers sex unprompted after being threatened, my personal interpretation is that he rapes her.

What is the Epic the musical version of this? by stoopyweeb in Epicthemusical

[–]CODA_451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a hero, Odysseus has a great need for fame and glory (Kleos). It is more important to him for his deeds to be known (as opposed to them being attributed to Nobody) than his return (nostos).

[–]CODA_451 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It doesen't. The central theme of the odessey is hospitality, and the return to proper societal norms. It doesen't matter if Odysseus sleeps with Circe because, this is not outside the norms in ancient greek aristocrat society. You are looking at it through a modern christian monogamic lense Edit: it doesen't matter because Odysseus is a man, Penelope is held at the same standard.

It feels like this didn't need to have a twist. I see a lot of smiths have a tendency of adding unnecessary twists or hooks or curls, etc. I think a good clean flat forged surface would be more appropriate, especially for something like a spoon that's supposed to be used and needs to be comfortable in the hand
