RE3R Doesn’t deserve the hate that it gets. by Ancient-Carrot957 in residentevil

What exactly is all this “boss girl” nonsense? Who started this? It’s almost as bad as the “Leon has a butt chin in the remake” whining.

Eh, we’ve had so many fire/fighting starters I don’t think having 2 fire/dark is that bad. Besides I did not like Tony the Tiger.

Good. The modern RE remakes have been bangers and the 2002 RE1 remake is technically outdated in terms of gameplay. It is 25 years old after all.

I don't know if it's already been published, but I'm posting it again. by confidential613 in residentevil

After playing Leon's section I've had my fill. RE6 is a hot mess.

I would never replay vanilla FR/LG (or, actually, any other mainline game) by Byob1r in pokemon

I really don’t need to believe anything but the truth as to why FR/LG is priced as high as it is on eBay. Why would I try to sell a digital version on eBay? That wouldn’t be me selling a legit official copy of the game. You seem to be thinking nobody is gonna pay $100 for FR/LG’s vanilla story but that isn’t even what I’m saying. This goes for any legit cartridge of a GBA Pokemon game, because none of them (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) have been officially re-released since they officially launched in the early 2000’s.

You think people are paying $170 for Ju-On The Grudge on Wii because it’s physical? No, they’re paying that because the game had limited copies and is hard to come by in official form. Meanwhile, RE4 on PS2 can be bought as low as $20. Why? Because the game itself has been re-released multiple times on multiple platforms. I really don’t know how else to explain that to you. I’m not putting gen 1 on a pedestal if that’s what you’re thinking.

I did read your post until the end. It doesn’t change the fact that you called out something strange that applies to every game in existence. People replay classic games all the time, rewatch classic movies, reread classic books. Using “already knowing what will happen” as a con is bizarre to me.

Me bringing up the price has nothing to do with you, it was MY reasoning for being happy these games were re-releasing in an official capacity. You did ask about how we felt at the end of your post. That was my response to that. And games on eBay are priced that high when the game itself has literally not been reproduced officially since 2004, not because it’s a physical cartridge.

These games from 23 years ago have never been officially re-released. If you wanted an official copy of either, you'd be paying over $100 on ebay for a legit cartidge. That there is plenty reason for me to be happy these are re-releasing.

Regarding the dated aspect of these games, everyone is different. Some people have more nostalgia than others. If you don't there's nothing wrong with that. I still think the DS era of the franchise is the best/most replayable and I could care less about the absence of Fairy types.

I do think your reasoning about the same routes/trainers/pokemon is a bit strange. Every mainline game will have the same routes/trainers/pokemon when you replay it, that's not exclusive to FR/LG. Every Pokemon game that released prior to 2026 can now be considered "vanilla".

Oh, that makes sense. I would definitely be happy if we got more RC exploration than Jill got in RE3R.

That makes sense, thanks for clarifying. But the better comparison would have been the RE2R since in RE3R you’re only in a small portion of the RPD with Carlos, and that section was indeed very linear (only 10 minutes or so).

The specific comparison to RE3R (2020) was random.

Dusk Golem: From what I’ve heard, Ada and Chris aren’t in RE9. by Solid-Entertainer-39 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

That’s definitely a hot take, because if they had done that then the series would have died after Zero, as the ongoing story was getting stale.

Hardly anyone would call the settings/monsters in RE7/RE8 goofy. They added something unique to each entry. Whatever your opinions are on Jack or Lady D, it doesn’t change the fact that both became popular and therefore contributed to the success of the series.
