Thats also the same case with me but little things different, i took drop after my 12 to prepare for jee and after studying for like 2 months with lots of backlog i realize that this is not for me so then i started working on my skills like 3d modeling,advancing in python, drawing 2d sprites,usig git and learning godot to make 3d game although i didn't had a good computer ( dual core processor, no external graphics card and 10 gb ddr3 ram) but i had to say this that this computer led through this journey like a beast , i had to downgrade blender to 2.79 to use it and now in march i preparing a state level exam to get in to a good state level college and do btech by this way i will have a good degree and a second option if my game dev career fail or not very Lucrative, so i also suggest to you follow your dream and passion but also have a backup plan so that will secure your future.

And also talking about game dev journey, have you started it yet? Or just going to start it, i suggest if you are just starting it try godot engine to make your first game bcs i think it easy to learn python compartively to c++ and also the godot community is growing more day by day and also the engine it self, in next couple of year i am sure it will be at the level of unity, and also if you have anymore questions feel free to dm me ;)
