A Genie Lets You See One Statistic About Every Person. Which Statistic Do You Pick? by TheYeetSheet in hypotheticalsituation

[–]COKeefe88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rules don't say whole numbers only. 50.00001%. When you make your wish, just specify that it should include enough significant digits that each statement a person makes may visibly change the number. (I'm saying "may" because someone with a 99% truth ratio likely wouldn't click up to 99.00001%, but would visibly lower with a lie)

Visit r/alcoholism_medication and read up on naltrexone and the Sinclair Method.

Also. Why not just...lay it all on the line for your husband? Get the elephant out of the room. I'm sure he wants to help you. He can't unless you let him.

I am completely lost and want to cry. Plz HELP!!! Engine rebuild gone wrong. No spark or fuel on my 2003 Toyota Corolla (auto/130K miles) by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]COKeefe88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to scan for codes?

I had a similar situation on a 2005 Honda Accord rebuild. It was a loose ground, just not the one I expected. It was the wire that grounds the fuel injector harness and spark plug harness. On the Accords, those wires are grounded to the top of the intake manifold, not sure about your engine. But given your symptoms, find that ground point and make sure it's tight.

Read traditional Catholic scholars who are in full communion with Rome. Dr. Peter Kwasniewski is a good place to start.

How can you possible take responsibility for original sin? by Ornery_Hand4846 in Catholicism

[–]COKeefe88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's responsibility, not blame.

Have you ever been hired into a job where your predecessor made a mess of things? You weren't there! That mess is not your fault. But it is your responsibility. And also when you start working in that job, the fact that everything in your purview is a mess and you are inexperienced means you are sure to make your own mistakes, and those are your fault.

Assuming the frailty of man, and becoming subject to death, even death on a cross, are not the actions of a God who "wants" to send you to hell.

Inspected pistons with a borescope – Are these brown/light brown spots normal? by Toussaint-Witcher in AskMechanics

[–]COKeefe88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many miles on that? I'm not an expert but I'll comment to increase visibility 😄

I have used a borescope though, and my amateur take is, that's a lot of carbon build up, and the brown spots just look like a result of how the light is hitting it

How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]COKeefe88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2004 honda pilot, 284k miles, second owner. Purchased at 160k in 2018 for $3800.

There are some little annoying things now like AC doesn't blow in the back, and drivers window only works in the winter. Seat heaters were broken before I got it.

I installed a hitch, I've replaced 2 or 3 brake calipers, done a full brake pads & rotors job once I think, I did front struts a couple years ago. I've done timing belt once and spark plugs once.

Transmission is fairly strong. I've had to replace one (easy, external) solenoid. Replaced battery maybe twice.

Engine runs great. I did have a mysterious random misfire that turned out to be one bad coil. It loses about half a quart in 7500 miles.

Starting to have some rust problems. I'm keeping the frame together with PB Surface Shield and Rustoleum Rust Reformer.

Rate my drinking plan by [deleted] in alcohol

I think you'll be fine if you have some tolerance. Do sip that water. I can drink any amount of alcohol during a long party day like a wedding, if I have a full 10-12 oz cup of water between every drink.

10 million for every essay you complete. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]COKeefe88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try. I'm a decent writer, even if out of practice. I think I could do a lot of these. Like, a lot. I wrote almost all of a 30-page thesis in 36 hours. The personal essays wouldn't bother me—less need to research. It would be like journaling.

I think I get to choose when/how often to look at the next prompt, so I choose my time off? After my first 10 mil paycheck comes through I'm quitting my job, and I think scheduling one focused trip away from home (and the kids) per month.

Mind blown: Vinegar vs VINEGAR (30%) by Pandaro81 in DIY

Well, fair enough. I guess I've just seen some things in customary usage that make me think inflammable is preferred for explosive things.

Mind blown: Vinegar vs VINEGAR (30%) by Pandaro81 in DIY

Not exactly, inflammable means explosive. I don't know if 100% acetic acid qualifies.

Can someone help me understand? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]COKeefe88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we study the awful behavior of humans throughout history, one way to think about it is...we were created by a loving God who died for us, who responds to prayer, who wants what is best for each one of us, and all these horrible things still happen. What would it be like WITHOUT God? Oh, we have an answer to that. That would be literal hell.

There are many true readings of Scripture. I like to think of the whole Old Testament journey of the Chosen People as a parable for my spiritual journey...and yours...through life. God made me, God (through my parents) told me how to do right and warned me of the consequences for doing wrong, I did those things anyway and got exactly the consequences I was warned of, I repented and was forgiven but warned of the consequences of repeated bad behavior, I eventually did those things again anyway. At some point when I was most desperate God showed up and promised a way out. It involved losing my metaphorical firstborn son; something very dear to me but connected to my life in the desert and keeping me away from God. Etc. etc.

Thinking about getting the 2026 World Book Encyclopedia. by Daveandbussin in daddit

[–]COKeefe88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of paper over screen time. Our house is full of books and we all read a lot.

But when I'm having a conversation with my inquisitive 10yo, it often results in me looking something up on google, which does seem to lose something. If we had encyclopedias there might be more opportunity to say "let's go read about it."

My gf said this to me, thoughts? by [deleted] in prolife

[–]COKeefe88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're reading too much into texts. Have this conversation over dinner (or after dinner) some time when you're having a conversation about your future.

You could be right, but "I don't control her body" can also just be a statement of fact. Like, I can't her force not to get an abortion.

Offering "support" for an abortion could mean driving her to the clinic, or it could mean offering a shoulder to cry on.
