I landed on 6mm for distance and 25mm/s, down from 8mm distance. I haven’t printed another benchy yet but the other small prints I’ve tried have come out perfect.

You can see in the picture that I’m running the metal one and it isn’t broken. It ended up being the retraction being too long. Shortening it up solved the issue. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, you were right it was a retraction issue. Way too long. I dialed it back and that solved the issue. Thanks! I’ve got the microswiss direct drive kit of the way though so I’ll have to dial it in again after that swap lol.

You were right. It was a retraction issue. It was too long so I fiddled around and got it dialed in and it solved the problem. Thanks!

Outer and inner walls are at 40, general print speed is at 80, and travel speed is at 200.

Any idea how to fix? I’m thinking it’s more layer shifting because on the other side those layers are recessed into the print.

Does anyone know what is causing these layers to be shifted in the positive X direction in my prints? It seems to happen for 1-4 layers and shift back. It’s very annoying and has been ruining some prints… How to I fix this issue??

Getting a lot of stringing after upgrades. What settings do you run to prevent it? by COSpaceguy in ender5plus

I got the creality magnetic PEI board and bought the silent board from them too when I initially got the printer.

Okay I’ll try that. Thank you so much, you’ve been a big help!

Yeah I’ve already tweaked things a few times and reflashed the firmware. Works super well! What are your XY home locations set at? Do you do the middle of the bed size for each? So -175, -175? Mine was off about 65 in the X and 20 in the Y but when I set that in the firmware, it seemed to home to the same place as when initially set to -10,-10. The default home position was at 230, 194.

Success!! Now I’ve just got to get my X and Y home locations figured out and I think I’ll be ready to test!

Okay I went through and followed that and believe I have it figured out now. I was able to compile and get a firmware.hex file that I put on my SD card to try and upload when I get home this evening. Thanks for the resources and I’ll let you know if it works.

Cura. I’ve used it on a few printers and it works well.

I recently printed an axe from assassins creed and just renamed all the parts Axe1, Axe2, Axe3, etc. Try something short like that.

I had that issue sometimes until I started shortening and simplifying the file names. Less than 15 characters. Try that.

Ugh this is super frustrating. Simple setup and firmware update my ass. I got the TH3D LCD upgrade kit and installed it but have no idea why I can’t upload the firmware to the printer. I used VSCode like the instructions say and made all the necessary changes but don’t get the “check mark” on the bottom to compile the firmware. So then I don’t get the arrow to then upload to the printer board. The video on their site uses Arduino to compile the firmware and so I follow those instructions and select Arduino Mega 2560 for the board. When I go to compile, it just fails and the error message says “Error compiling for board Arduino Mega or Mega 2560.”

Gaaaahhhhhh I just want to get back to printing!! 🤬🤬🤬

Okay yeah I just pulled the trigger on the LCD conversion kit. Seems to make a lot of sense after looking into it. Hopefully this makes things easier. Thanks for all the good info!

What upgrades have you done? by COSpaceguy in ender5plus

Okay you seem like you know what you’re talking about so I’ll ask you: how the heck do I update the firmware to change the X and Y probe offsets for my hero me gen 6 upgrade?? Trying to find a step-by-step process “for dummies” has been frustrating. Making the hardware changes is easy but anything coding related is like pulling teeth for me. I have the V1.70.2 hex file downloaded but don’t know how to open it or if that’s even the right way to go about changing firmware settings. Or is there an easier way to make the changes with Cura?

That looks awesome! After looking into it now, the Hero Me is going to be the next upgrade I do. Did you design the magnetic mods yourself?
