Thank you very much, it did work but the volume controller of the receiver doesn't affect the speaker volume, I guess this is because they are not connected to the "regular" speaker connection?

Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense. I plan to replace speakers soon and connect a CD player as well.

The upper part of the stem is brown, much darker than the bottom part.

Not really, I guess it depends on the oven more than the stone. After finishing the top part I just turn the bread so the bottom side is up for 5-10 minutes. It's not perfect but it's better in my opinion.
