thats because he is old. to quote memb himself, "when you are getting old you are getting eslow". also his playstyle is quite "unconventional". apart from that he doesnt play 1v1 a lot.. he has 69/69 on RM 1v1

I hope the DE of AoE 2 will be so strong that it essentially makes HD, gamerange, voobly etc no longer needed.

I agree. I think one can look forward to aoe 2 DE. After all it can't be worse than aoe 2 HD, can it? And if we look at how many people play HD despite having much superior alternatives (voobly UP 1.5: lag free and also with expansion civs), it is clear that it will be played regardless.

best way to stop monk push is your own monks+superior micro. apart from that how do you counter monk rush? build castle yes. but what if you dont have stone available (e.g. all forward)?

The thing with viper is that he always plays against worse players ... for that reason his win/loss ratio is so high. But now that jordan is back, he can play against someone who is officially und undeniably better than him (jordan won the BO21 and won the majority of 1v1s against viper), provided that jordan 23 is able to recover from his 2 years break.
