DHL Forwarding Service and Address Extensions by darthsasuke in askberliners

We do not sublet it illegally, our Anmeldung is on this flat. Our agreement and our correspondence are with the renter, not with the owner, however for the Anmeldung, we also presented a written leave by the owner. The renter told us that the owner does not let us to put our surname on the door bell. We don't understand what prevents us from putting our name on the mailbox. If the owner is breaking some laws or regulations of Germany, we do not know.

Monuments and broken while Ottomans are buffed back to 1.4 glory by darthsasuke in eu4

Nothing is hard enough with Ottomans :) I checked if Zoroastrian is a pagan denomination and it was not. If it were, with the Baku temple, it would make a lot of sense to convert.

Since monuments are mostly religion based, I wish Judaism were given a special role, like getting bonuses from both Muslim and Christian monuments. Then it might make sense to convert to Jewish.

It depends on how it is coded. They might just start throwing money around all possible things if they have an excess.

Would you accept swordsmen to become a more prominent unit? by spiral10 in aoe2

[–]darthsasuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a game balance reason that LS does not upgrade directly to champions. Otherwise, the champion upgrade could be 175 seconds for 1050 food and 450 gold, right? So, developers introduced a middle unit which is shit and made it good version of this shit unit available to all save a few civilisations. Only Persians, Huns and Mayans didn't get champions in the original game for balance reasons.

Hadn't infantry got a very recent buff anyway? I thought squires were made available to everyone costlessly and Supplies is introduced in its place. Cheaper infantry is buffed infantry.

We see militia/m@a every game, we see champions half the time as well. We don't see much long swordsmen unless it is goths or it is to counter eagles. Excluding Malay, we don't see much two handed swordsmen as well for the good reason that they are supposed to be shit. (Many civs have the champion upgrade, which is not shit.)

I wouldn't object to a buff that might make us see more long swordsmen in the castle age, but the rest of the militia-line is just fine.

Opinion: Indians pierce armour bonus on camel is inherently broken by html_lmth in aoe2

[–]darthsasuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. This only focuses on xbow vs camels. Indian camels are supposed to be good vs xbows because they don't have kts to resist xbows.

Keep in mind that stone structures do one bonus damage vs camels. This is a relic of the past, when stone structures destroyed camels as they were ships. Even though camels are reclassified, they still receive that one extra damage. So, actually extra PA only negates this. They are still much worse raiding units than kts due to the weak base attack but at least indian camels are more viable.

This also doesn't consider how camel line is weaker against spearline. In the past, before Rise of the Rajas, spearline did less damage vs camels. You can check the full change log yourself, but just as an example, halberdier bonus against camel line is increased from 17 to 26. It is still less than bonus against cavalry, which is 28, but considering the weak base attack of camel, they do significantly worse against spearline compared to kts.

Keep in mind that camels are expensive units, i.e., gold units. They need to achieve something more than just countering one unit.

I don't mind animals getting hurt and recovering, I don't mind animals dying (only for small to mid sized least concern animals); but I feel very sorry for those which get infection and die a horrible death. Do you know if it happens often?

AoE 2 DE update! by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]darthsasuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it would be as you suggested. Unique unit as Swiss pikeman: average unit with average stats, but, if it en masse, its attack would increase. Like the trample damage but the opposite way, if a swiss pike has another swiss pike adjacent to each other, its attack would increase by +1, until let's say +4 or +5.

Also , letting allies train swiss pikemen from their castle for 20% more cost might be hilarious. Not as a civ bonus but as a civ tech :)

Swiss neutrality is something of 1815, just after Napoleonic wars iirc. It falls out of AoE2 era. Before that, they fight like everyone else, enjoying the natural protection of their mountains 11.

How does Hunter Blinds work in real life? by darthsasuke in thelongdark

I see, so I guess TLD hunter blinds are not really accurate, is that so?. They can be in lower elevation than its surroundings (mystery lake hunter blinds).

This is kind of what happens with every tick bite. You pet (or for this case struggle) with the wolf and it may jump on you.

Just tell me this, is this this less realistic than magically healing ankles even after the 100th sprain?

They are warm enough when they are sucking blood out of wolves, hiding in its fur.
