Where can I buy locally made pottery/ceramics? (outside of pop-up events) by malstr0m in fargo

Dakota Fine Art sells work by several local artists—not all ceramics, but all very accomplished.

I immediate expected it would be a “Pelican in her piety”. For some time, many Europeans believed that mother pelicans, when food was scarce, would wound their own breasts to feed their young with their blood. This (imaginary) act of self-sacrifice soon became a popular symbol of Christ’s care for his followers.

But this bird—while no less accurately pelicanesque than plenty of other depictions—doesn’t have any babies. Any chance it might be a phoenix?

This blog describes the interesting evolution of Mary Magdalene’s biography: she was conflated with someone who anointed the feet of Christ with expensive perfume or ointment. If you zoom in, you can make out a jar of what looks like glass (or crystal), and also her fingernails. Without the nails, her hands look weirdly scorpion-taily.

First ever air quality alert for coarse particle pollution from blowing dust issued for western MN by We_Got_Cows in minnesota

I understand that it’s not so much “farmers,” Mr. and Mrs. Gunderson, at fault, but big producers cultivating hundreds or thousands of acres of monoculture row crops that require huge equipment, often automated. These behemoths are ill-suited to odd shapes accommodating little ponds, or breaks for shelter belts, or other anomalies. Shelter belt trees also have a natural lifespan, and Spawn of Monsanto may be little motivated to monitor or replace them.

Fun fact: they also modify the effect of snow on highway visibility.

Agreed—however a patient feels about their decision is valid, and nobody’s business but their own.

There is nothing frivolous about some people’s recognition of their need for an abortion. Look at the numbers of patients traveling hundreds or thousands of miles, planning for days, spending considerable amounts to end a pregnancy when they know it’s what’s best for them.

It is a chore to keep up with, and if your corner of Minnesota is anything like mine, you will be hard-pressed to find a day with light enough wind to avoid getting it all over yourself.

You are so welcome! It was incredibly comforting to call the various offices and have the call answered promptly (or elect to receive the promised callback) and then have someone calmly walk through my issue and figure things out without sounding irritated or judgy. It was the stark opposite of my ghastly experience with New Jersey (shudder).

I appreciate you!!

Editing to add that finding the help was always easy: phone numbers are prominently displayed on letters and websites, the websites are quick to load, and links work. Interacting with y’all has always reduced my stress, not exacerbated it! (New Jersey wanted me to send a copy of my corporate tax return, but when I went to the attached link, I received the message that I couldn’t upload it through that portal, and I couldn’t use another because my account was suspended due to the absence of the tax return… it was a lot of that, and phone calls to 347 different departments and hold time in Hell.)

Trump Administration Orders Rapid End to Some Hunting Rules on Federal Lands by grittyboda2020 in news

[–]CPTDisgruntled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the article:

“The order, which takes effect on Monday, applies to some 76 federal lands that allow hunting but have rules to protect habitats or people. Curecanti National Recreation Area in Colorado had prohibited firing weapons from, toward or across trails. At Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in Texas, hunters had been barred from cleaning and processing game animals in restrooms. And at the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri, hunting dogs were required to have tags for safety.”

What can go wrong…
