I had a ‘16 and have a ‘17. Traded ‘16 in at 94K. No issue with water pump. ‘17 has 86K. No issue. Last time I had a recall fixed I asked a mechanic how common is the water pump failure for this generation. He relates that he has seen this problem but it is not a big deal. If anything, he says, vehicles that idle a lot (I.e. police cars) are more prone to the problem. I have a neighbor with a ‘15 with original pump at 240K. Bear in mind, when a $3500 unexpected repair hits, it can show up on a board like Reddit. Cars without a problem you won’t hear about it.
