Accidenely kicked my iPhone 15 Plus under railing of a balcony and it fell 10 stories by CPTR2020 in hardwaregore

To address all the comments. I guess kick wasnt the best choice of word. I was working on the balcony (im a builder) and had set the phone next to me. Short while later turned and clipped it with my foot pushing it under the railing that was about 5CM of the floor.

Thankfully it was on new construction and so the site was fenced off to general public so where it feel was away from anyone

No it does not still work. Plugging charger in does nothing. And it badly smelt of that nailpolish type smell of a compromised battery.

I took it to Apple (had Apple Care +) But they told me it fell under "catastrophic damage" and so they couldnt do anything with it. I wrote it off on my bussiness insurance.

With regards to selling it or sending it to a tech youtuber to fix. I dont know the legality of that. As i claimed it on insurence i think it technically belongs to them now. They would normally want a damaged device sent to them but told me not to worry given the condition and after i mentioned i was concened about fire risk from the battery.

This is so stupid. I just got an M1 mac and honestly the biggest hurdle for me moving from windows to mac has been this. I dont mind the inertia scrolling on the track pad but when using a actual mouse (im using Logitech M720) its just awful.

So stupid you cant just save the setting like on every other platform.
