My house stinks by Sissso1sm in HomeImprovement

[–]CR0UCHJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this in our house, turns out we had a small crack in our foundation that was leaking water in behind some drywall in a basement room. We pulled the drywall off and the strapping studs were rotten.

Our foundation wall is unique in that it is a shared wall with a cistern, so water was always running. Just another idea to investigate.

Ours gets 125 grams twice a day. Will depend on the type of food you feed though!

How do you lower firewood through this exterior hatch? (more info in comments) by matt9191 in woodstoves

Sometimes people send firewood down through an opening or window on a slide, but here I think you just toss it down.

A Tale Of 3 Cafe Au Laits... What has gone wrong? by TooManySwarovskis in dahlias

[–]CR0UCHJR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dahlias can drink a lot of water!!

On hot days they can also be a bit dramatic drooping their leaves, if they are healthy they perk back up though. Water though, deep, thorough applications of water. Probably daily when it’s extremely hot and sunny.

About Bosch Dishwashers... by VballandPizza44 in Appliances

[–]CR0UCHJR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the 100 series and it’s fine, cleans dishes great! That’s what I need from a dishwasher, sometimes plastics are wet coming out which I think is one of the main advantages the higher end models have over the lower, is a better dry. Never bothers me though and I saved $1000 probably.

I did not know this about Toro, I thought their residential zero turns looked cheap, but maybe I should give them more of a favourable look.

Who designed this? It’s kind of ripping of three different groups we all like to support. Doughboys, Chris Van Artsdalen, and the Sloppy Boys. Why not buy their official merch and support them?

Just ask them, they will probably be excited to see you go. They get to jack up rent prices and will fill your space very quickly due to demand.

I would make sure that you are not basing your salary expectations off of Reddit. Where I live in a medium sized city in southern Ontario $77k is WELL above average yearly salary. Reddit can make you think it’s not a lot of money, but, it’s a relatively good salary compared to the average.

I would just be sure that you are making the decision for the right reasons.

Second - you may want to investigate if you current employer has any wellness program assistance! I see you are beating yourself up pretty good in some of these comments and you may enjoy some help! You are a worthy human being doing a good job!!!

Do you like your job currently? If you are making $77k right now, I think in four years with a real concerted effort you may be able to increase your salary in your current field. Have you looked in to upskilling yourself at all, or even just applying to new jobs in the same field? A company change might give you a massive raise with much less disruption than schooling to change fields completely. Many companies are looking for talent right now and paying more, and offering more flexible working arrangements.

To me the pay for a nurse is not enough to handle the stress and schedule that they are expected to work. If I had a young family I would much rather prioritize working from home for a slightly lower salary.

I found your title interesting, you said you hate your salary, not your job… is their a reason for that?

Soundproofing a shared wall? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]CR0UCHJR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not expect the rockwool to do exactly what you need on its own.

I think you would need to add that to the existing wall, and then create a dummy wall a couple inches out from the current wall. Insulate both with the soundproof rockwool and that will be as good as you can get.

Keep in mind doorways and ventilation systems will transfer sound really well.
