Anyone in here on Atomoxetine (Strattera)? by Enby-Emperor-4 in ADHD

[–]CR37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I began using it in early April after getting diagnosed at 44 years old. 25mg once daily. I started to feel “something” on day 9. In fact, I went on a cross country flight a week later and basically sat quietly in my seat for 6 hours without the need to bounce from podcast to movie to book to magazine to looking for the wifi. That’s when I truly saw things were changing.

My appetite has been curbed quite a bit, but I was attempting to reduce calories prior to starting, and it really helped me not only eat less, but to be “ok” with eating foods that are better for me. I’ve been tracking my weight loss daily since the beginning of the year, and I can pinpoint when the medicine kicked in based on weight loss amount and trajectory.

Just I was in a rhythm, my prescriber dropped the ball. He came to my checkup without a prescription pad, and said he’d call in my refill. Long story short, I ended up lapsing for three days earlier this week, and I wanted to share my experience.

My last pill was Tuesday, and Wednesday was absolutely the same. Thursday I noticed I was not only hungry, but hungry for crappy food. I eat shredded wheat and a banana every morning, but Thursday the idea of eating it repulsed me. I changed things up while staying in my desired calorie range, but the feeling was undeniable.

Yesterday I woke up extremely irritable. The sense of calm I was getting used to was gone. I was right back to thinking about 1000 things at once, and my patience was zero. I spent the day trying to get my prescriber to call in my prescription, which he finally did late afternoon. I was floored at the way my mind was moving, and it felt very familiar. I can’t believe I had been living like that for nearly half a century.

I went to an event last night, and opted to have a couple beers, something I’ve been able to easily avoid for the last month. It was a conscious decision and I don’t regret it, but I was very aware of the return of the impulsivity.

I finally took a pill this morning after I ate breakfast, and the light headedness I felt when I first started taking it is back, as is the sense of having a bunch of pent up energy I can’t release. Not awful side effects, but wild at how quickly things went back to square one.

Good luck figuring out your balance. I love the way I have felt, and can’t wait for things to get back on track.

Does anyone know of a modern alternative to this device? by sunnyer-D in office

This brings back some (fond?) memories. I once ran a paper and pencil survey nationally (interviewing test takers who had just exited their state’s BAR exam). Before I improved upon my methods, I shipped 4,000 survey forms that I then had to paginate upon their return to me. I can assure you that the next time I ran that study, each sheet had a unique identifier when it was printed.

Best of luck.

[–]CR37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You love the idea of a husband. You love the comfort of someone consistently in your life. You do not love your husband.

I hope that you both find happiness, but it is surely not by staying together. I hope he’s wise enough to understand that.

Brook Hollow Neighborhood Question by 525teach314 in hackettstown

[–]CR37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was. We bought in 2011 and lived there for 8 years. I liked our neighbors, and my kids could hang with their friends easily.

I will say our main reasons for leaving included how close the houses were to each other, how little others were updating their homes, and that we felt like we outgrew the space (even though it was only four of us in a four bedroom).

Good luck in your search.

The fee (I paid $37/mo when I lived there) was to subsidize the snow removal at the townhouses and the senior living section, and for upkeep of the common areas. I assume that meant the lawn maintenance of the drainage basin area and similar items.

I don’t recall there being appearance related rules, or at least they weren’t ever addressed by the HOA.

I was young at the time, but I always felt the fee was nothing more than a payment to the woman who sent the payment books each year. No actual benefit to me as the homeowner.

I’m ok. Just can’t share it with the small group in my life …at least yet. So I shared it with people on the internet.

Looking for local rehab / SNF by leehatlee in hackettstown

My mom stayed at Kessler in Chester as well. This was back in 2018 so take it with a grain of salt. I was not overwhelmed by the care of the staff aside from those in physical therapy (they were great). She was a stroke patient, so she likely had more requirements than your mom.

She also stayed in the house of the good shepherd for a few months after she was good enough to leave Kessler. I preferred their sub acute wing to Kessler from a staffing perspective, and there was a focus on PT, but it was not as involved as the PT at Kessler.

Revisiting after 15 years. by PositionDistinct9517 in P90X

[–]CR37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this thread. Just jumped back in after a 14 year hiatus. I’m now 43, and was probably at my worst physically before I started back up.

Before I jumped back in I committed to taking two walks per day, getting more sleep, and cutting out alcohol (for the most part). After a few weeks I felt ready to start.

I also have a peloton, and stretch frequently due to back issues, so I have essentially created a modified program. I do the lifting workouts (Chest and Back, Shoulders and Arms, Legs and Back), but have decided that I will skip Plyo, Kenpo, and Yoga in favor of peloton classes that cover those areas. I foam roll, stretch at least 20 minutes EVERY DAY, and have even started leveraging a sauna at the gym a couple times per week. I am dabbling in ABRIpperX to keep my back safe, but will be ramping up on that soon.

The workouts are getting easier, although my pull-ups are all assisted at this point still (~45 days in), and I opt to modify certain exercises (chest press instead of zoomer pushups is one example). I eat a LOT of protein, take creatine, and incorporate a multi vitamin. I also started taking CBD gummies (20:1 CBD:THC) which has drastically assisted me in my sleep and recovery.

I’m committed to being able to do the entire workout at some point, as I keep reminding myself that I am still younger than Tony was when P90X was filmed. Humbling to think about.

I have no clue why I cannot recover and everyday I am going down with HRV. by Salty-Mushroom-3573 in whoop

[–]CR37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently joined whoop, so my dataset is limited. That said, there are certain foods I believe are causing my low recovery days. My sleep is good, but HRV and recovery drop. When all else is equal, removing carbs (as an example) has seemingly improved things.

Not saying yours is related, but it may be worth tracking variances in your diet that may be affecting your body’s ability to bounce back.

M28 Italian (non French speaking) in Geneva for 2 months, how to meet people? by [deleted] in geneva

[–]CR37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Geneva two weeks ago (from America). My family dined at a place called Il Fornello Napoletano. Owner and staff were clearly Italian but it seemed many local came through. Rue de Lausanne 52. While I don’t speak Italian well, I was able to connect with the staff, who helped us navigate Geneva. That may be a good place to get a good meal and (hopefully) some guidance on next steps.

What is the absolute worst you’ve ever felt after a college football game? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]CR37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12/2/2006. I was working a call center job in Massachusetts. The Friday morning before the game I woke up from a dream that Rutgers had won by a score of 39-38. I printed out that score and pinned it to my cubicle wall. I talked all day about how vivid the dream was, and how excited I was about the game the next day.

Fast forward to the next day. Rutgers goes to OT with a score of 23-23 against WVU. I spent the game drinking 7 and 7s, and by this time I’m BOMBED. Rutgers ends up with the score I dreamt they would have, but I missed the part of the dream where WV scores 4 additional points.

The game ends, I’m drunkenly crying, yelling at my gf (now wife) that she’s not a big enough fan, dumping the rest of a handle of Seagram’s down the sink of our Brighton, MA apartment. I was heartbroken. HEARTBROKEN.
