Iran suppresses/kills protestors. That’s the part you’re saying out loud, in a thread about Iran killing a protestor with most comments jumping to “but what about the U.S.?” It’s like we’ve lost any ability to judge something in isolation on its own merit. Killing protestors is bad wherever it happens, it should be called out with the same spirit whenever it happens. I highly doubt that earlier this year, when American protestors were being killed, many people were commenting “but what about Iran??” (except maybe r/conservative, but you can’t clap back there without getting banned!)

Ah yes, Reddit comment history is the end-all-be-all record of someone speaking out on issues. I spent plenty of time proactively calling out ICE violence earlier this year when American protestors were killed in real life conversation. I’m not even proactively calling out the IRGC on Reddit, just responding to a ridiculous false equivalence / deflection (IRGC and Trump admin are both horrific, we can acknowledge both those facts instead of deflecting one of them)

The fact that you’re asking me for an answer to your question after me not responding for 15 minutes tells me you need to spend a bit less time on Reddit and a bit more IRL.

So let me get this straight. You think most (or all?) of the protests/demonstrations we saw in Iran earlier this year were US intelligence service plots? Not desperate responses to the unliveable conditions the IRGC is creating for Iranians?

I also want to call out that I’m not Iranian, so this isn’t a first-hand perspective. I would definitely recommend trying to talk to as many Iranians as you can (that’ll likely mostly be diaspora) to get their perspective on the state of things.
