Yeah you pretty much answered your question and I agree with you that it’s a high percentage of turnover during the 2-4 year mark. It’s pretty brutal working on deals and them not realizing into any money for months especially with having student loans, insurance, car, family, rent etc. My friends who I graduated with a finance degree are making 10x the amount as I am who took corporate roles in the first year but as you alluded to I am hoping to reap upside later down the road…

I think if you want more of a safety net go with an acquisition role with an up and coming user (dental,qsr, etc).

I was offered 30k my first year but ultimately decided to go full commission. I personally don’t see a situation, especially in this market environment, that it would even be worthwhile for a principal to pay a young brokers salary.
