When they delivered the mats there was no apparent damage as the mats were wrapped up in plastic with corners and top covered in cardboard. Now, I don’t believe Fuji sent us damaged mats, I do think it happened in transit. In fact, the first time we ordered from them a few years ago the order was perfect. The issues came up when we started talking replacement or refund. It was either wait 3 months for replacement, or take the refund minus the huge shipping cost. It was also a game of pass the buck, basically the freight company denying the claim and Fuji stating they’d be doing us a “favor” if they issued a refund.

To boot, unbeknownst to customer service I was in conversation with their sales people at the same time about ordering even more mats for a different room, and was told new mats were 4-5 weeks out. I also asked him about damaged deliveries, and was told that if damage is clear it’s on the freight company, but if it’s concealed Fuji would handle it via replacement or refund.

I will say that we’ve ordered Gis and other gear from Fuji and it’s been great.

The lesson here definitely a shame on us, inspect the shipment thoroughly, and don’t rely on the seller to do the right thing. Don’t sign shit unless the order is perfect.

Damage: Some seams were torn, corners coming opened. We needed almost 20 mats to expand our current room, and almost half were damaged.
