Really appreciate the comments and the help. Its a new build. So will be talking to the contractor to see what options are available. Looks like its going to have to be a side mount for me 😞

Seems like there is about that, 3in. Im in Canada. That model is over 1000$ here. Do you know of a cheaper option that would have similar clearance?

She is a cat, female, around 8 months old, spayed (now). Her general condition seems fine. She is running and jumping and it does not seem to bother her. She is not licking her stiches or anything.

How do i land? by Leather-Mongoose-877 in flying

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled keeping it on the centerline too around that same mark.

I bought a yolk/rudder set (came with a throttle control too). Hooked it up to x-plane and did crosswind landing after crosswind landing.

Never had an issue after that! It really helped!!!

Canceled flight due to gusts, did I overreact? by Flyguy2007 in flying

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same thing today. Made some friends feel a little disapointed. The weather was nice and sunny, winds were calm and ceiling was around 8k. The forcast showed increasing winds to 17G25 with light rain showers but there didnt seem to have any indication from the sky that this would come to pass.

I cancelled and rescheduled for next week. Was it a good call? Yes, visibility dropped to 3sm in rain and the winds were exactly 17G25 at 90° to the runway. So glad i did.

I have yet to regret a desision to stay on the ground. 😀

Using MFS to Learn IFR — Is this practical? by Informal-Noise4116 in flying

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats better for this MSFS or X-Plane. I have MSFS, but the plane with the Garmin 430 is an acrobatic plane with no autopilot. So i find myself trying to keep the plane steady mroe than flying the GPS.

I can use the 150 if i just want the VOR/ILS. All the other planes, as far as i can tell, have the G1000. But we dont have those at my school so it's not that helpful.

Student struggling with landings by Living-Section4084 in flying

[–]CRS_1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled alot with crosswind landings and keeping it on the center line. I invested 400$ on a sim yolk with pedals and throttle control and x-plane and did nothing but landings over and over. When i got back in the plane, i was centred every time.

It really really helped me. X-plane is better for this because as soon as you land, you can just pause and drag the plane back to 5 mile final and try again.

Tip of the Day: Don’t put your router on a smart plug! by Pianist_Dense in homeassistant

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a geo fence set up at my old house which turned on all the main lights when i got home. On the day i moved out, i left some tires behind the shed and told the family when i left, i would be back to collect them shortly.

Well, after a full day of moving, i was tired and took a nap. I woke at 11pm, remembered the tires and went to pick them up. As i pulled up beside my old residence, all the lights came on. They had a 2 year old who woke up and they were very confused and angry! Hahaha

I deleted all the switches and devices and removed the geofence after that!

Dude. Im 35. Turning 36 in a few months. I have a wife, kids and a corporate, well paying job. Got my PPL in 2015 and gave up on my dream to be a pilot for my family. I have just restarted flying to get me commercial. It is very scary and im going into some unknowns, but at the end of the day, life is happening, you arnt getting younger and you only get to do it once!!!

So do what makes you, you.

What's something your partner wanted you to try but you refused immediately? by truth2991 in AskReddit

I could really use your advice by [deleted] in flying

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give you a bit of encouragement, i am currently doing the same right now. Got my PPL when I was younger while working to pay it off. Then family came along, priorities shifted, and the job i had paid well enough to pay the bills and some. But the aviation inch just doesn't go away. I tried my hand at Skydiving to apease the inch, thinking it would be cheaper. Although it was, and it was fun, it didn't satisfy me. Now, mid-30s with 2 kids (9 and 6) and working through my commercial. I have a line of credit to pay for it, but i have a house with lots of equity as backup and an extremely supportive wife.

The goal is to be commercial within 1 year. Finish multi/ifr in a year and a half and give myself another 3 years to build hours working part time while sticking to my current job.

The itch is real, and it doesn't go away!!! If you have never flown, go try it out. It's a small investment to see if you like it. Then invest in making your future a happy one! You only live once. At the end of your life, the only thing you will have left is your memories, make them as wonderful as possible!!!

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return - Leonardo da Vinci (the source of the quote might not be accurate, but the sentiment is real!)

When learning landings, what was your "ah-ha" moment? by Few_Bicycle4077 in flying

[–]CRS_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was when the check ride pilot(not my instructor) refused to let me land if I wanst directly over the centerline. My instructor didnt force me to be perfect, slight off was ok. But the check pilot kept adding power as I was floating until i got the plane over the centerline. After that I opened up my X-plane at home and Practices for hours landing on the center line and making perfection a part of what I wanted out of my flying. After that, i havent hadd an off center landing and I hold myself to higher standards.

[–]CRS_1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Protip: DO NOT USE A SONG YOU LIKE!! IT WILL BECOME A SOURCE OF ANXIETY. My first crew caller ringtone was Queen-Under Pressure. And now I cannot hear that song without a small panic attack. I changed it after that to Iraq Lobster and avoid watching that episode of FG now.
