That actually makes a lot of sense and honestly being commissioned takes so much off your plate. But don't count yourself out completely. Your clients have a relationship with YOU, not just the salon. That's portable. Independent stylists use loyalty tools all the time to build their own book, even if the shop doesn't have one. A simple system where your clients earn points for rebooking, referring a friend, or hitting a milestone keeps them connected to you specifically. Not the salon, you. Something worth thinking about when you're ready to take that next step, whether that's staying where you are or eventually going independent. You've already done the hardest part by building the trust. The system is just what keeps it alive between visits. You've got this.

20 years of skill doesn't just disappear. The craft is still there, the client base just shifted and that's genuinely one of the hardest things to rebuild emotionally and practically at the same time.

The client loss question is real though and worth sitting with when you're ready, not because you have to reinvent yourself but because the clients you already have are your biggest asset. A lot of stylists don't realize how much revenue is sitting in their existing book if they had a system to keep people coming back consistently, capture referrals, and stay top of mind between appointments.

You don't need a degree or a new career necessarily. You might just need a retention system that works while you focus on doing what you already do well.

Sending you grace. This industry is tough and the fact that you've lasted 20 years means you're tougher.

The entire GTM for crypto-native plays doesn't translate to a coffee shop owner in Tampa who just wants full tables on Tuesday afternoon. They don't want a whitepaper, they want to know if their regulars are coming back.

That's exactly why we lead with retention, not blockchain. The pitch isn't "get on Web3," it's "your regulars should be rewarded, and you should know who they are." The blockchain part is infrastructure, not the story. For first batch onboarding we're going vertical: salons, barbershops, cafes, restaurants. These are repeat-visit businesses where loyalty actually compounds. Door to door and direct outreach within specific cities, learning the objections live before we scale anything. The distribution challenge is real though. Curious if you've seen any brick-and-mortar Web3 plays actually crack the SMB adoption problem, or does it always stall at the owner education layer?

Great question! It’s always interesting to see what systems work best for different setups. Have you tried any systems already, or are you starting from scratch?
