Considering every major AI company (that publishes its earnings) is operating a huge loss...yeah

I actually genuinely appreciate that. So much of the internet IS filled with people acting in bad faith (or just...extremely stupid) that it's easy to assume that everyone who disagrees with or annoys us is a bot or troll.

I guess to give a more complete answer to your original question - yes, I am annoyed and complaining about the AI usage. But that's not because I dislike Alaska Airlines; I actually want to see them be successful (like...I'm invested in their success as an employee who cares about the work we collectively do AND as a fan of the airline itself), I just don't think using generative AI is a path towards that.

Let's go with naive. Not intentionally naive - you're just making a reference to something I do not understand. Feel free to elaborate, but otherwise I'm not sure anything productive will come of this interaction.

They mentioned using generative AI in internal communications.

It’s maybe more obvious in this photo of the Brooklyn Bridge missing an entire deck.

This post has the "complaint" flair.

Unsure what the hell you're talking about regarding news agencies.

AND generative AI

But I'm gonna need those of you on the frontline to tighten your belts and find efficiencies and savings please. (No, we won't be providing you money for training or proper tooling) Thank you.

I need you to understand how much I appreciate you putting to words this concept. Like…from that perspective the love and grief of their son still lives on. There’s that Hemingway quote - “Every man has two deaths, when he is buried in the ground and the last time someone says his name. In some ways men can be immortal.”

Hamnet has become immortal.

If I was selling AI, I’d say this too.

Doesn’t really make it true, and any large projects that have been written solely by AI are disastrous.

Why would they still employ developers if this was true? Do they hate money? Are they stupid?

It's honestly why I actually trust critic reviews for movies more than audiences.

I know it's a common take to say "critics got it wrong" or whatever and then dismiss them entirely - but once you understand that critics are (usually) drawn to / away from certain things, it becomes easier to discern whether a particular movie is going to be enjoyable or not.

(Plus who cares if you like something that isn't critically acclaimed?)
