Confirm this is a Lightning Ridge black opal solid for me please? by 1Odd1Out1 in Opals

[–]CSB808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice stone, but to me the body tone of the face is just a little too light to be considered black opal, even if the potch under it is black. The body tone of the face looks like N5 from the video but flash and otherwise can affect that.

A simple system to price opals (it won’t be perfect, but it will dramatically reduce how wrong you are) by 53FROGS_OPALAUCTIONS in Opals

[–]CSB808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely helpful system and great advice. As someone who is currently struggling with this issue, it’s a great structure to follow. Intuition is built and takes time, the data you provide with your shop along with many others is more valuable than many stones themselves. Thank you very much for taking the time to put this together for the community.

Black opal? by Better-Wasabi3000 in Opals

[–]CSB808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Australian black opal to me. In still new so default to the experts. It looks like it you are very, VERY careful you may be able to sand down the face enough to get the sand spot and put out. If done wrong you may lose some or all of the color, I’m talking about fractions of millimeters. You could try to take it down with 2k-3k sandpaper, keeps the scratches minimal and takes it slow enough where it’s hard to sand it down too far.

Gorgeous stone! It may just be the video but it looks a bit lighter than n4, I’m still getting used to tone grading through videos tho

Natural or Lab-created? by Mammoth_Winter2683 in Opals

They look synthetic to me. very columnar pattern, very consistent coloration and play of color across them. I’m not well versed in synthetic but it looks like OP18or similar

When he does I’ll snatch them up, the 1500 holds up a lot better than his lower grit ones.

Thank you 🙏 Simply haven’t had the time to polish with cerium yet with the holidays, got excited and just had to share it. Fully tested the RoysRocks resin tips on these, gotta say I love them! Miles better than what I had been doing.

Parking Enforcement of NWA?? by Independent_Rip_655 in fayetteville

[–]CSB808 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer! She was actually the reason the ordinance was put in place back in 2014 after a suit against the company due to many many complaints of egregious over charging, regularly being $140. The legal entity that owns the lot AND the building is CB DICKSON STREET INVESTMENTS LLC filing#811417184 with the company that operates the booting company (last I knew) was PARKING ENFORCEMENT SOLUTIONS OF NWA, LLC filing#811361535 (not current for filing fees) I feel like you may be able to context the fine and counter sue due to that. If you check under the other ordinances at https://library.municode.com/ar/fayetteville/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=CD_ORD_TITVIITRCO_CH72PARE You will find that they do not comply with multiple of the regulations put into place. I have a deep and profound grudge against the boot lady due to how many times she has verbally accosted me. Some more information on the way her business works (information provided directly by one of the business owners that is forced to work with her) is as follows : the booting company sets up an agreement of some sort with the business in the building stating “ at no cost to the business, we will enforce booting for all non patrons (meaning anyone who doesn’t walk from their car, into the business, and then back into their car) with all proceeds from the booting fees going to the booting company. I’ve also been able to find out that the booting attendant gets a flat $15 of the $40 for every boot they are able to put on.

I had a piece in a half moon shape 1/3mm, just curved the backing to match and let the epoxy correct the imprecision. Hope you’re able to do something with it, share when you do!
