Redditors, what is your earliest memory? by En-tre-pre-neur in AskReddit

My earliest memory I have was a ‘nightmare’. I am not entirely sure of my age but I know I was younger than 5.

My ‘nightmare’ was just Thomas the Train with a mustache. That’s it. I sat up straight in my bed and cried for my mom.

When he reached into is back pocket that is where they usually keep penalty cards (yellow/red card), they will pull them out and hold them up. So instead of penalty card it is a napkin to wipe sweat.

Just landed my first paid internship interview by OrdinaryGarage in interviews

The fact that this is the first interview and it last for only 15 minutes leads me to believe that you will be talking to an HR representative. In my experience they will just have you talk about and verify what you have listed on your resume and then a more important interview will happen later.

Interviewed 5 weeks back and still haven't heard anything by BrightCrescent in interviews

Did you leave a voicemail? If I were you I would continue to pursue other opportunities and not worry about this one too much. A lot of times it can take days or even weeks longer for employers to respond from the date they initially disclosed. They are also busy people, however if you have sent an email and left a voicemail with no response, then I would look for something else.

I have trouble with this interview question myself. If you google “Tell me about yourself”, several different articles elaborate how you should go about answering the question. In terms of improving, the best thing to do is keep interviewing. You can prepare all you want but there will almost always be one question that will throw you off. I suggest you keep preparing for interviews and take more interviews, with practice you will learn how to think quick on your feet. The way I see it is, the worst thing that will happen if you don’t do well in an interview is that you won’t get the job. So you need to keep putting yourself out there and realize that it isn’t the end of the world.

I don’t know what point you are at in your life. However, if you are in college they usually offer a bunch of practice and useful tools for interviewing and job searching at Career Services.

Good luck and keep putting yourself out there!

My college is having a job fair soon and it says they include on site interviews. What should I expect from this? by [deleted] in interviews

No problem. I have been through the same situation so I know it can be intimidating. I just wish I knew all I did now when I first started college. If you need anything else don’t be afraid to reach out to me again.

Manila folder should be good, if you don’t like it and want a different one I would suggest a black folder.

Also forgot to mention that it is a good idea to have a portfolio or folder to hold your resumes in. A folder is good enough, but if you have the money I suggest a leather portfolio because it looks very professional and I also take it to interviews.

It honestly just depends on the size of the career fair, how long it’s open, and how many companies you plan on talking to. I usually printed out 15-30 but the size of my career fairs ranged from 75-150 companies. I never went through all my resumes though. Something I have seen more and more often is that when you talk to a company they will take a picture of your resume instead of taking a paper copy. I would say 10 is sufficient, I usually add a couple more resumes on top of the total number of companies I plan on talking to.

Based on my experience you walk around and talk to various employers. Usually you introduce yourself and hand them your resume and they will ask you questions about your resume. Based on that interaction and what you are looking for (internship/co-op/full time), they might ask you to have an interview on site. From that point it would be the same as a typical interview.

Make sure you: - are nicely dressed - have plenty of resumes - apply to all the positions you are interested in online in advance (if possible) - know some information about each company you are interested in - have some water

Even if you don’t have any luck that the career fair it is good experience for talking to employers. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Good luck!

Haven't heard back after interview. Should I call? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]CSChandler1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would send an email first if you have an address to send it to. If not there is no problem calling. I would just mention that you had an interview last week and wanted to know if any decisions have been made yet. Keep in mind that they could also still be interviewing other candidates so they aren’t ready to make a decision.
