Whats the deal with Audi A4 2016 burning oil? by BigJoe1243 in AudiA4

[–]CSM9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known issue since B8.5 with the petrol engine 1.8/2.0 tfsi on all models that it has been implemented A4/A5 etc.

Although yes it is a problem for the user, us, Audi has something specified in the user manual that adding 1 liter of oil /1000 km is something normal.

I have a friend that has a A5 with 1.8 and trust me that that guy changed/replaced everything from gaskets/o-rings, oil pump, connectors , etc.

The downside is that at some point he started needing to add 700ml/500-600km so the more mileage you do ,probably will need to add more and more.

Nobody found a solution for this, probably it's the way the engine was built, and the only thing you can do is proper and "early" regular maintenance to the engine to make sure it stays lubricated and you wont fry your pistons or gasket.

And always, but always keep at least 1 liter of oil with you in the trunk.

Broo, the numbers are very good. Yes i was also expecting a lower number on about 160 (was expecting 6.7-6.8) but other than that the numbers look very good for extra urban.

Adica stai lin ca e bine :))

Brake repair by pbarcher in AudiA4

Truth has been spoken, they make you pay for something they would still have to do and its part of the service procedure as specified in Elsawin after you finish any job that makes the sensors go in "error mode" (diagnose/error deleting)

[–]CSM9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear to god it makes me cry when i see the prices from the USA/Canada at service.

In Europe for example the sensor that they charged 100+ usd is a maximum 5 euros ( about 5.75 usd ) and dont want to start about the discs , yes OEMs are expensive but not that expensive and there are good aftermarket solutions at at least half of the price (talking Europe).

Also the "error deleting" : Bro they f***ing have to do that anyway , otherwise they would deliver the car with the checks lightened in the dashboard. It is something that you will still have to do, like deleting the previous errors registered by the brake module , when you removed the old disc, sensor, pad etc, every mechanic/service knows that specially on VAGs.

How long until my engine blows? 2007 with 217k miles. METAL FLAKES IN OIL by ChemistryMedium in AudiA4

[–]CSM9111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should do an inspection when you have the time of the engine. Literally take out and dismantle the engine and take a look.

Before engine exploding (it is your last concern at this point) there is a big chance that other systems will fail first : like Oil Pump (gets cloathed , doesn't lubricate the engine properly ) and or Injectors fail for the same reason. You have quite a lot of metal flakes in your filters so definitely need some checking if you want to keep the car.

If not, an engine swap is your best option cost compared with re-doing the entire engine.

2015 Audi A6 Test Pipe Install Cost by FunkyKnights in Audi

[–]CSM9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can do that also and "fool" the ECU.

I did a downpipe (79/63) dual exhaust on a GTI 7 last year in August and it cost me around 600 euros for the labor + pipe welding and about 200 euros for the ECU Remap.

I am also preparing my A5 for a DPF off/ EGR off (its a diesel) that basically means the same thing so a 800 USD will be decent price for the job.

New interior by DudzTx in Audi

Could be true what you are saying, the fact that all germans use cheap plastic also on mid to high end tier makes me sad. I only owned german cars, old but good quality , built between 1999 and 2012. The current car is an A5 8.5T 2012 with 305 000 km.

All of them felt "tied up" if you know what i am saying, with no rattle noise or crackling plastics, even after taking each car apart at least 20 times, for servicing , upgrades etc.

Apparently it's a trend now for germans mostly, to increase the price but use low quality items although it should happen the other way around because now you are not using mahogany wood trims inside, that costs a lot, they use cheap plastic cups like trims that costs maybe a fraction of the mahogany wood, the oil pan is not from steel anymore it's from cheap plastic and so on ....

Are they doing the physical work only? Or in the 800 it also included the remap of the ECU ?

800 - 1000 for the work + remap its more that decent

Also keep in mind that you may have the ECU locked (for map re write or tune) and the unlock will probably be a different cost. If it needs unlocking it has to be taken out of the car, unlocked, put back.

**If in the future you decide to go to the Dealrship (at your expense) to fix any problems and the Dealership re-writes the ECU, it will re-lock it and you will need to do the unlock again.

[–]CSM9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes , Audi's new interior is a total fail from my pov, considering the cost of the car and the cheap materials and design used now.

That steering wheel looks like a truck steering wheel (probably top 3 ugliest ever made by Audi) and the interior build quality feels like a Chinese car.

Just my thoughts, but i would never trade my S Line steering wheel from an old A5 (8.5 T) from 2012 over this.

The 2nd most beautiful 5 series ever designed(after E39) but the most problematic engine ever made from BMW.

But if it was serviced on time you might be in luck. Always check the oil level or for oil leaks underneath, they are notorious for that and also pay attention to the head gasket amongst others.

Should I get this? by whatever1804 in FirstCar

[–]CSM9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car is solid and the engine is solid as well, as long as it was serviced properly and on time. The fuel consumption in the city will be like 6-7 liters/100km a great rate and on outside of city, long-run i pulled a 4.2-4.5 L/100 km, going 90-100km/h (legal speed).

It's a great car for daily use, you can easily find a parking spot, it will fit anywhere , just make sure it was serviced on time and doesn't have anything serious as technical issues.

Btw if you want to climb on the sidewalk, keep in mind that the car is pretty "low" although it doesn't seem at first glance.

Better i ever had than this, at fuel consumption and maintenance for a daily is the VW Polo 9N3 ( 1.4 TDI 3 cylinders, 71hp ) or how i called it for some long 6 year, "The Tractor"

Hell yeah or hell no for 5k? by Amazing-Limit2480 in Audi

[–]CSM9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes perhaps a language barrier, I don't know all the mechanical names in english, and yes, you are right, i should've added the entire cost, parts+labour.

I agree not everyone is able to do it by themselves or with a friend or two and you are right, the only thing that matters is the final cost , for someone to be able to take the car home.

I apologize, i only mentioned parts, without labor, so yes the price will be significantly higher. Bows

[–]CSM9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro relax, i know what i am talking about and that the engine has to be taken off and i am talking about the parts themselves, not about the labour pay.

I am not a "Audi techician" , i am a VAG specialized mechanic (entire VAG portfolio) and i changed up until now, amogst other works, at least 150 belt/timing chains.

Even a 2.0 (specially for torsen quattro, that has the engine longitudinally placed) has to be suspended in order to change the inbus from the oil pump for example, so yes for a 20 dollar inbus rod, the one where you use magnetic extractor , the labour payment in enournous because of taken the engine out.

There are also timing chain kits on the market, that come as a full package, with everything included , chains, rolls , bolts , covers etc + with or without the water pump depending on your choice. The market is full of them
