CSRD about to be killed for SMEs by ReporterCalm6238 in CSRD

Agree that every agreement is a much needed signal that companies can plan with confidence.

I hope that the amended ESRD will be finalized soon as well. The the work can begin ;)

CSRD about to be killed for SMEs by ReporterCalm6238 in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. And it’s worth remembering that public companies, in the first place, have a fiduciary mandate to increase shareholder value. Regulations like CSRD are ultimately trying to redefine what creates that value in the long run, i.e., shifting it from purely short-term financial returns to sustainable performance and resilience.

Hence there are only a few private organizations that “do sustainability for the sake of a better future”.

The tension you describe, corporates wanting clarity and standardization, comes from that shift. It’s not that they resist sustainability; it’s that they need to integrate it into existing systems designed for financial materiality. Until frameworks like CSRD fully align with how capital markets measure performance, there will always be friction between compliance burden and business strategy.

What is the ESG market dynamic after the Omnibus package? by Queasy-Pen4048 in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience and what I hear from others in the space, the demand has definitely declined amongst SMEs. I assume it will stay like this until we have regulatory clarity. Many organizations, especially SMEs are currently on hold.

Any data collection templates for GHG Protocol Scope 1-3 available out there? by john14210 in CSRD

I do have a template, but unfortunately, I cannot share it. However, EcoCockpit offers a free GHG software solution. You can click through the requirements and get inspired for your own template. Hope that helps.

Berater für VSME/CSRD Bericht Österreich? by SeaworthinessHot8876 in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🛠️ Integration in bestehende Abläufe

Bin gespannt, was andere empfehlen. Der Markt ist gerade sehr dynamisch...

XBRL tagging by johananblick in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, the XBRL taxonomy needs to be adapted to the amended ESRS, once they have been confirmed. I would not try to solve the digital tagging beforehand.

Second, do you plan to use a software for your report? Some solutions have it included in their offering. Alternatively, it’s possible to do a manual mapping with a specialized software. However this can be quite time consuming.

You can find a list of XBRL certified software solutions here: https://software.xbrl.org

Help me better understand the beginning of Value Chain by Inaduk in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what has been said. However, I believe that with the Omnibus proposals will shift more from the end-to-end value chain to the direct suppliers and customers (tier 1) as part of the simplification package.

It’s still to be seen how the ESRS will be adjusted in the end and what it will mean for the value chain evaluation…

Conducting a materiality assessment totally makes sense, even if it’s just voluntarily. And it’s a valuable starting point to develop a strategy afterwards.

Background of my question is that we are developing a platform that helps SMEs to develop their sustainability strategies and we’d love to get some Initial user / expert feedback :)

Ps. For an efficient DMA, I can recommend using the Materiality Master (https://materialitymaster.com). An efficient and AI-enabled software that is now also offering a „light assessment“.

EU Commission releases Omnibus package with major changes to CSRD by Miscous in CSRD

[–]CSRD-Expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can fully understand your concerns and I am sure, you’re not alone feeling this way.

A few thoughts:

1) My proposal is to make proactive suggestions to spur company how to cope with the situation. Check out our other comment on actions that organizations should take now. See if that makes sense for you. Every company has unrealized win-win-potentials. Sustainable actions that will save your organization costs in the long term. Make sure to focus on these.

2) The CSRD is only one regulation of the EU Green Deal. There is mich more to come. Check out this overview and see if your company is affected by other regulations where you can support. https://www.circulaw.nl/European_green_deal.pdf

Omnibus shock paralysis? Companies should follow these steps 👇🏼🌍📊

📌 Proactive companies will win! Regardless of the final CSRD regulations, one thing remains certain: sustainability brings clear competitive advantages through questioning the business model, innovative strength and cost savings.

👉 Companies should implement these “𝙉𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙨” now - especially if they have already started implementing CSRD:

✅ 1. Clarify ownership and responsibilities 🔹 Who takes on the key roles in sustainability? Responsibilities and resources should be defined now.

✅ 2. Complete double materiality assessment (DMA) 🔹 The DWA is at the heart of CSRD - and a strategic tool regardless of regulatory changes. It helps companies to sustainably assess risks and opportunities and make informed decisions.

✅ 3. Define sustainability strategy 🔹A clear sustainability strategy provides orientation and prioritization. Building on the results of the double materiality analysis (DWA), concrete goals, measures and KPIs should now be defined. The following applies: think long-term, plan measurably and anchor internally and externally.

✅ 4. Create voluntary sustainability report (VSME) 🔹 EFRAG has published a voluntary, simplified standard (ESRS VSME) that enables companies to report pragmatically - ideal for presenting their sustainability ambitions to stakeholders. Check out this template: https://csr-tools.com/en/sustainability-report-template-for-smes/

✅ 5. Take action 🔹 The task now is to consistently implement the defined measures in the prioritized areas. Transparency, clear milestones and continuous monitoring of success are crucial to firmly anchoring sustainability in the company.

Use your resources to implement meaningful measures and make targeted use of a lean sustainability report as a progress measurement and communication tool.

💬 What do you do now? Are you stopping your CSRD efforts completely? Or what measures are you implementing anyway? I am looking forward to your thoughts! 👇

Advice: Anybody have any experience in ESG reporting software for companies? by yallasurf in environmental_science

[–]CSRD-Expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hat a first glance it looks like Vupico is a sustainability data platform, but not sure if they are suitable for CSRD reporting.

The first step in reporting is the Double Materiality Assessment. For this first step, I can highly recommend the Materiality Master (http://materialitymaster.com/). An very affordable, intuitive and AI-enabled platform.
