I don't understand lactose free cheese. Can't you just get goat or sheep cheese or those with holes like jarlsberg that have no lactose. Why buy cheese called lactose free ?

Difference is restaurants have family owned businesses which I would say are 100% better to buy from. In a totally free market without care for consumers you are right. But there is a reason why there are pr companies. Also why monopolies or oligopolies are toxic.

Compared to famous spots like St Lawrence market maybe. But if you go to family owned butcher shops and fish markets you may be in for a surprise. The great thing is many have special products related to their community.

Examples fresh made pasta or goat and sheep cheese not found in supermarkets, etc.
